Smurfwaite / Nuneaton

This has the potential to be really, really bad for Port Vale.

Don't think I can stress how bad this could get. As CambridgeDon has pointed out, at worst we face an expulsion from the league. Points deductions/large financial sanctions are definitely on the cards should a breach of FL rules be found here.

Why would he buy Nuneaton though? Especially when losing money big time? Makes sense financially to get the ground I guess but can’t see the benefit to Smurf to buy the club especially with the risk that would have to Vale? He’s lose much more by us being in the Northern Premier!

Have to see what’s what but surely any ownerships of member clubs have to be registered with the FA/EFL/National League if they have such strict rules to avoid it happening?

Wouldn’t any owner need to declare he owns it with companies house if that was the case? Seems to have a few directors.

Nuneaton had one director prior to Norman buying the ground. That was Lee Thorn. His resignation was filed at Companies House on 1 August. There are no directors registered at CH.

Smurf does clarify the Lee Thorn situation here in fairness, essentially he just resigned leaving the club rudderless. If true what’s stated here then he seems to be working with the National League to ensure he can help but within the rules in terms of this Co Op that are looking to take over.

Assume this Is why the club are refusing donations as don’t have access to any accounts due to Thorn walking out?

Hopefully there’s nothing more to it but judging by that he does seem to know the rules on dual involvement.

Companies House documents contradict the statement that Thorn is the 100% shareholder.

Sentinel saying they're investigating ownership of the club. So, best case scenario now, is that Norman bought a ground without knowing who he will be (if ever he chooses to) charge rent to?

He's either full of BS, or incredibly incompetent. Or both. Sounds familiar.

Fellow directors in Boro Stadium Co. at the time of sale? Without checking at Companies House cant be sure of the timing.

Does someone have to own it at all times? What I understood was that the main shareholder walked and that’s the main problem in that people interested don’t have anyone to talk to? Hence Smurf was the facilitator and the club itself was being run by the coaching staff.
