We'll know more after today.

England could have put the game out of sight yesterday but for their customary batting collapse, but close to 300 might be a decent score if the ball moves a touch and it stays cloudy.

Today is crucial I think in deciding which way the game goes.

Completely agree. Some decent variation in the bowling for England with a leg spinner and a LH seamer too.

What an interesting session - again.

Kohli is of course the key wicket as he's arguably the best batsman in the world but if we can get him out then we have a real chance.

I thought Jimmy would have been our man this morning so all credit to Curran (Sam).

Only saw the last session, but two things stuck out to me.

1. Kohli gave a masterclass of how to bat with the tail.

2. England (Stokes in particular) gave a masterclass of how not to bowl with 9 men down.

Shades of the last over 20/20 defeat to the West Indies from Stokes.

Phew! Stokes came to the party just in time. Great over to get Kohli and then Shami, turned the game.

He's one of those cricketers can be dreadful and an idiot as we know but also brilliant when he gets it right!

Stokes and dreadful in the same sentence don't belong together. He#s the best all rounder in world cricket bar none.

There's a young, talented England side developing here. Yes Broad, Anderson, Cook are reaching the end of their careers but Curran and Pope both bring something to the side - especially Curran with his left-hand seamers and ability to get some decent runs.

We've got two world-class all-rounders in Stokes and Woakes - after years of dross (Pringle, Capel etc) what a difference two make.

We have bowlers who can pretty much all bat giving us a fantastic tail and Anderson could go on for another 2/3 years.

The side still needs one (hopefully two) openers to come in to partner Cook and then eventually replace him, we need to see how Rashid fares (hopefully he will bring his) ODI bowler's form and it still needs to be tested in overseas conditions.

But considering we are thrashing the number one Test team in the world and doing it in the last Test without our first-choice all-rounder, I think things look really good.

It's true that we had the best of the conditions at Lords but when you see that Woakes scored more in his one innings than the entire Indian team did in either of their's it does show that the gulf between the sides is greater than can be explained by the weather.
