Conlon Signs and Miller Cleared to Play

Great news, Hannant, Joyce and Conlon in midfield big change from Kay, Pugh and Tonge! Good luck to Ricky too hope he plays against Shrewsbury so I can see him! We will have some game changers on the bench too. Most of the players can be improved under Aspin.

Oyeleke too, who, despite a few knocks this pre-season, looks to be a massive player for us this year. Central midfield, central defence, and goalkeeper are definite areas of strength. Just need to shore up the flanks.

But why make things up about him? There was some serious allegations flying round!

There's a HUGE difference between making things up/alleging things (i.e. stating things as a fact) and speculating as to what the position may be (i.e. questioning the reasons behind the situation or proffering possibilities). At no point did I, nor any other poster, state as a fact what the issue was, merely opened a debate concerning the situation. As we still don't know what the issue was (which still concerns me, given the cloak and dagger approach, but I accept that we may never find out), it remains to be seen what the actual story was/is. He's obviously done something, on the basis of Aspo's quote today:

"If you’ve committed an offence, then you try to do all the things in the right manner to give yourself the best possible opportunity to come back and to get the decision in your favour.

“And he couldn’t have done any more to make amends for what he’s done."

I'm not flat. With Aspin's forays into building his own squad I have actually had a good feel about our coming season. Miller may prove to be the cherry on the cake, I sincerely hope so. After the past few seasons it's easy for Valiants to "get carried away" with any hint of improvement. I'm trying to be calm but my gut tells me we have a manager who not only wants success for himself and the Club but is a true Valiant at heart and will gradually drag Vale back to where we all want and crave for. Good times ahead, me thinks.

Hope to goodness you're right - after the last two seasons, it all seems too good to be true. Great news about Conlon and especially Miller, so I'm looking forward to Saturday's friendly almost like a league game. It will be so interesting to see how Aspo sets it up just a week before the opening game. Looking much better on paper, all we need to do now is get it right on the pitch!

I guess we will be pretty close to the team and formation on Saturday that will start v Cambridge

Personally think he will be our main man. Awsome last season apparently and easily too good for that level.

It’s easy to read between the lines that it wasn’t an on the pitch issue. Good that he’s got the all clear now though.

The Nuneaton friendly was pointless..... We could have looked at him in the home friendlies since he lives in Porthill

I don't think Aspin and Smurf gather round a PC and spend hours on google maps looking at the home addresses of potential signings before we arrange a friendly.

Give it up RZ. It was ridiculous to start with. Anything other than humble pie will make the argument even more laughable than it was.
