No Open Day this summer

I do think it is an opportunity missed, for the reasons mentioned above, namely, goodwill and a chance to make a bit of money for the club. I don't give a monkey's as to whether or not other clubs do it, I think we should, particularly now, when we need to recover the former fan base. In addition, as has been mentioned in another thread, we have just rebuilt the team for the third year running, and there is a sense of not really knowing who the players are - so for younger fans (and some older ones) to get the chance to chat to them informally, get autographs and photos etc would be helpful. I am also concerned about the demographic of the fan base - we need to make sure that we keep attracting youngsters to the club to become lifelong fans. These open days are a good way of getting youngsters interested, on the pitch, kicking a ball on the hallowed turf, and feeling that they belong to this club - not just being dragged along by a parent or older family member on match days to watch a bunch of players they don't know and feel no connection towards. I hope an open day will be reconsidered in future - it is one of those things that doesn't put the club out too much, but brings the fans closer, and we really need that right now.

Spot on Lornelouger, with Vale's easily accessible training pitches, Vale could have set up a mini event and raised funds. The shop and ticket office is not too far away too.The kids would've loved it while on their school holidays.Proactive Port Vale again! Not!!!!
