Premier League 18/19

O-Chamberlain is expected to miss most of next season.

I have only an affiliation to Vale but take an interest in the Premier, the Ox to me is one of those enigmas. What actually is his position ? People were bemoaning him missing the World Cup but i'm not exactly sure what he offers. Probably just me and as i say i don't follow it other than a passing interest on Match of the day.

That said it seems a dreadful injury and a real kick in the nuts just as he was seeming to establish himself at Liverpool.

He was largely outstanding for Liverpool in the few months leading up to his injury. Pace, strength, tireless work-rate... The only thing he misses is consistency - more care with his end product at times, but even that has clearly improved during his time at Liverpool. England really could have done with him in the middle of the park during the World Cup.

Alexis Sanchez has been refused entry to the USA due to a fraud charge from his Barcelona days. The American broadcasting companies are not happy with United due to upcoming games against Club America,SanJose Earthquakes,AC Milan, Liverpool,Real Madrid and FC Bayern especially with seven other top players missing because of the World Cup.

That's alright. They've still got Valencia, McTominay and Smalling over there.

I'm quite impressed by Liverpool's recruitment this pre-season. They'll definitely have a stronger squad and have needed a good keeper for 2-3 years now.

Why can Pogba play like that for France but not for Jose? I'm guessing that United will improve again as well but whether or not they adopt a more entertaining style is anyone's guess.

A lot depends still on the signings to be made in the next 2-3 weeks as I imagine there will be plenty of them. Can Chelsea or Arsenal improve enough under new managers to threaten City? I'm not sure. And Spurs often seem to fall just short.

Should be another interesting season in the battle for the top but I don't think it's going to be a lot different from last year. Is there anyone else who might be good enough to threaten?

Man City will or should win the League but i still think Liverpool will be close behind them. As for the other 4, i've not got a clue what order they'll all finish. Maybe West Ham to gate crash top 6?

You certainly can't see anybody breaking into that top six can you?

Liverpool are a central defender away from being serious challengers to Man City. Still not convinced about Lovren being a title quality defender. Top 6 yes, top 2 no.

Agree to a large degree. But is Otamendi better than Lovren considering he gets in their side most weeks? I don't think there's many genuine top quality centre-backs in the league as a whole. Off the top of my head, Azpilicueta, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Van Dijk and Maguire are among the best. Kompany obviously would have been at the top of any list a few years ago but he's not the same player he was.

Funnily enough on a bookies list i saw they were 8th favourites, rated a better bet than proven Premier League outfits like say Leicester, usual suspects, then Everton then Wolves in the eye of bookies.
Loads of dosh or ability to clinch high quality loans, very tall order to finish above half way.
