The difference a year makes

Couldn't disagree more I'm afraid. I'm guessing all those Bradford fans suddenly decided they wanted to become season ticket holders?

No, BCFC went all-out in attracting them. They didn't accept that crowds of 4k was something that couldn't be improved on.

Good marketing wont do any harm but :

Match day tickets will only increase when we are successful on the pitch

Season tickets will only increase when there is a price incentive to do so. This would have to be a significant price incentive AND this is when

marketing should come into play.

5000 ticket sales a few years ago proved this.

Shame we have missed out again this year but I feel we need a successful year on the pitch before we could retry this one.

Bradford tickets were really cheap and after a couple of years they were

very successful on the pitch and maintained that for several more years.

Old habits die hard and once you have a season ticket and see some success, you will continue with one, especially at a cheap price.

Trouble is our fans old habits are not to go to matches and will remain.

UNTIL WE ARE SUCCESSFUL ON THE PITCH

Like I said, down to cost of ST.If we halved our prices do you think we would quadruple our support?Funny how Bradford are not increasing their playing budget for next season.

Quadruple, no. I'd bet no club has quadrupled support with a single initiative.

It needs several strands of attack, but if the club genuinely can't make something out of Aspo and Rudge being at the helm and Stoke going down then heaven help us.

Here's a question;

If someone doesn't renew, what do the club do about it? Do they call that person and (politely) ask why? How do they know that person hasn't simply forgotten? How do they know that person didn't have the cash but now has? Do they make any effort to retain as many ST holders as possible?

I'm pretty sure we both know the answer.

None of this happens, because we have an utterly clueless owner.

If someone doesnt renew they do nothing about it as i havent yet and i will see what more incomings come before i do if i decide i want the hassle of watching them regularly again .

U see with me the last game performance V Cambridge and humiliating defeat is the one i go into the close season with so at the moment im thinking ten games no more as the performances from many last few seasons have left me flabberghasted and drained from the ineptness of it all mainly .

The season tickets are your one off chance to get money in the club and someones loyalty to all 23 games so the price has to be right and the selling point has to be right .

295 for me and 155 for lad and nephew ,doesnt seem a lot but when some games the players are hardly bothering, it is when you have made the effort to get there brought a programme and then are treated to at times a no show from the people who want you come ,the players.

So i want see more players coming in and they have to be better than the majority who have worn the shirt but thats about it these last 8 out of ten seasons .

Getting to a league cup final probably helped Bradford as well beating Villa and Arsenal on the way. Hard to make a fair comparison.

Despite their 18,000 crowds they haven't achieved promotion from League One either?

I like this idea, from Bradford! I would deffo have one of those, as an overseas fan:

FlexiCards

This season we will also be launching a new look Flexi option, called “WebFlexi” which will be a flexible alternative to a season ticket. This will be available exclusively online thanks to our new look, upgraded ticketing system and customer website.

WebFlexi members will be able to purchase matchday tickets at half price, however, seats will be selected on a game by game basis and subject to availability.

IMPORTANT - These will be available to purchase in the "Products" section of our new website from 12 pm tomorrow for £75

Bradford did so on the back of a spell in the Prem; the hope for them being that they'd be back there soon. That they didn't has probably led to the reduction in the budget that's been reported.

1984 when their attendances were last at 4,000 - in the third tier. Their general pattern seems to be that, when they went up a tier, or had a decent Cup run, their attendances went up. When they got relegated again, attendances went down, but they managed to retain some of the fans; when they got promotion, their gates went up - who'd have thought it?

Probably the best example of crowd growth in FL 1 or 2, they considered prices too high and dropped them gambling that lots more would buy STs, they did and together with cup runs, including a cup final prospered. They continued with their lower prices and a promotion to increase their gates. How long this will last without a promotion to the Championship who knows. They have not had a prem team within 20 miles for many years until last season, but have competition from RL though but with a larger population than SOT.
