Golf - Spectator Sport ?

Recommended Posts

Just been subjected to The Players Championship at Sawgrass in my local.

Whilst acknowledging the skill levels of the players, does golf really justify the TV time it gets ? As Jasper Carrott once quipped “it’s just hours and hours of televised sky”

The last pairing on the last round may be interesting, but aren’t the other 4 days just like watching paint dry ?

So is golf a game to be played, not watched ?

If your into golf then you'll usually enjoy watching it, live or on tv. I enjoy playing and watching golf, "The Players" is tremendous to watch.

It's phenomenal to go to a golf tournament and watch the best players in the world hit a golf ball, it really is something to wonder at but then again I'm a swing nut.

17th at Sawgrass is one of the best par 3s in the world for spectators. 16th at Scottsdale too. Would love to play the course one day, it is definitely on my bucket list.

Yep, I hope to go one day. Love the 12th as well, together with all the other famous holes. Short par 4's (for the pro's) provide great entertainment.

My absolute fav par 3 is the Postage Stamp at Troon, wind howling off Irish sea to the left, armageddon to the right, tiny green and pot bunker on right, Prestwick airport withe jumbos taking off to the rear, can stand right behind the players, brilliant viewing if ur a gold nut.
