This ground rent stuff

Recommended Posts

I keep reading on here that Smurf can charge what he wants for rent and how he is going to charge us extortionate rates to rent the ground if/when he sells the club. Also read how he can put the price up if we go up and as and when he feels like it.

Can someone who knows more about the covenant than I do put this to bed and stop peoples imaginations getting carried away? It seems like the lie is nearly true on here already!

Clearly renting the ground is no good for the club but can we at least clear up the facts about the whole potential situation?

Like the main fact that he isnt going to sell anyway so all of this is just hysteria at best!

The simple fact is he owns the whole lot. Separating the ground from the club means he can do whatever he wants away from any FA rules.

Obviously screwing over the club for the profit of a stadium will not work.

Vale Park isn’t some world class new stadium, it is an aging ground that people only go to for watching vale.

Smurf will not make any money if the football is poor. What is he going to sell the ground for?

He won’t make much money hosting community events.

Sounds like another Coventry in the making if this does happen. Smurf would know what happened there being a Coventry fan.

Will he sell it - that is the question, as he is asking too much for the club at the moment. As he said, he has never lost on a deal. Get us into the Championship and then sell us. That is the only way you will make your money back.

Nobody would buy the club without a legal agreement on the rental terms of the ground covering future costs and usage of the facilities, thus up to the buyer to decide if it is worthwhile. In the meantime NS is both landlord and tenant of the ground, so entirely up to him as is the chance of any type of sale.

There is a cap on what rent he could charge, think it’s £150k pa max.

As long as that **** is in charge port vale is ****** as a football club, who in their right mind would buy the club without the ground unless, no why pre empt that possibility let the useless **** find out himself.
Not ideal, but some clubs cope, Swansea rent and share, it all depends on the terms and as a last resort. Only time will tell.

Yes but Vale Park is a run down stadium which needs investment. He’s failed to finish the Loren Street which he promised to do.

My question would be, if someone did buy the club could they build their own stadium or share with someone else?

The ground and the club are owned by 2 separate companies in turn owned by the same people-

I'm sure the separation means if the club goes the land is protected , but also the separation means its easier to move funds from one to another company or save money by not charging for services between them.

If you look at leyton orient I think the ground is owned by The Hearns yet the club was sold to someone who let the club rot even though he had the money (think it was said he did the same with a basket ball club)& rarely visited his £25 million pound London house.

In summary anything can be good or bad its all about the intentions behind it and so far the owner of pvfc hasn't done too well in his governance but he is doing ok with his other land company even investing in this area

The issue with NS in charge is that he contradicts himself so often, presumably because he can't keep track of the lies he tells.

Does anybody really believe that there have been any "talks" with anyone? It's just more Bertie BS from NS.

Enough is enough. Get out of our club.

Any deal to buy the club would depend on the terms of a lease for the ground and if the terms were excessive, no one would buy it.

As per usual, the sensationalist rumour mill is working overtime and making something out of nothing.

Yes but if he sold the club to Fradley who enjoys the ego trip of being the Chairman and the status and hospitality that goes with it he may actually have a mug willing to take on the club without the ground.

If he can’t afford to buy the ground where will he find any money to invest in the team.Dont forget that Fradley and Garlick were the ******** who renewed Baldrick Browns contract which nearly took us out of the league.

I am sure the supporters would not accept a deal with Fradley buying the club as it would be worse than V2001.
