Mattholl I would urge you to avoid continued use of personal insults. The definition of a ball bag is "Noun. ballbag (plural ballbags) (slang, informal, vulgar) The scrotum. (pejorative, slang, vulgar) A thoughtless and ignorant individual."

It is for readers to reach their own conclusion around your comments and who, if anyone, best fits this definition.

If you had researched my previous posts you would have seen that I have repeatedly urged that personal insults and abuse of Mr Smurthwaite and others is wholly wrong and should be stopped. There is no place for it. Just as there is no place for your continued justification and glorification of criminality.

I have nothing more to say on this matter.

Not far off but not an arrestable offence?

In the eyes of the law, I don't think there's any differentiation between fireworks, flares and smoke bombs. If you set one off indiscriminately in public there's a fair chance the Police will want to arrest you.

I was on about Essex saying that MattHolls defence of this is a criminal act. Now I can be the most delicate of snowflakes on my day but that takes the ****!

You’re a ball bag mate end of story? remove me from a website for expressing an opinion. Let’s not kid ourselves that people on this forum who are so called respected fans, verbally assault the current owner on a regular basis, have harassed and verbally assaulted most of the v2001 ex board...but that’s ok though even though it’s illegal because that’s what a decent vale fan would do right?

What if the likes of Bratt, Oliver and Smurthwaite had a heart attack whilst being pursued and abused? But who cares cause that’s what upstanding vale fans would right? Can’t pick and choose when you apply the law...unless you’re a ball bag on onevalefan

You have made such a cock of yourself on this thread!!!

Mate it is pointless because you have defended Smurf in the past so everything you now say will not be looked at objectively. Beginning to think its pointless having your own opinion on here if it doesn't match up with the top dogs of OVF.

SuperValiant1876 please read what I wrote. I did not say this is a criminal act (ie it is definitely a crime). My use of language was very different. If you wish to quote me that is your right, but please do not misquote me. I put a few qualifications around my comments in that area. I accept that you choose to have a different interpretation. There is sufficient bandwith in my observations to allow for different opinions and interpretations.

I also take it you have never ever in your life gone over a speed limit or done any other minor offense? To the rest moaning here I assume the same. You could kill someone doing 33 mph not 30, it’s a criminal offense

Spot on. Thankfully the spirit of football lives on in little pockets at home and some away games.

The alternative is seats and silence. No ta!!

"I believe it not to be beyond the realms of possibility that your defence and justification of this criminal act could easily be interpreted as an offence under the Public Order Act 1986 section 4 A"

Sorry I am not a policeman or barrister so is an offence not the same as a crime?

Bizarre to read people on the internet saying a sentence is too harsh. Usually it's "He only got X years, he'll serve half of that, X/2 is a disgrace, what if children had been killed?"

Anyway, what's this? Second offence, a 30 year old man letting off a flare in a confined space rammed with people.

https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/local-news/football-fan-20-banned-matches-1479121.amp

A 20 year old Crewe fan just been banned for three years for throwing a plastic coke bottle at Vale fans. The odds of him killing someone by doing that are a lot less than they are that the other idiot, with ten years more life experience, would have killed an asthmatic by letting off a ******* flare in a pub. Five year seems standard all things considered.

Please read it again, I said it could be interpreted..... I did not say it was...............there is a significant difference is saying something could be interpreted to mean a specific thing as opposed to saying something specifically is a particular thing.

In answer to your question an offence is not the same as a crime. An offence against a specific law is a crime. However this detailed legal discussion is not relevant to my original point and certainly not relevant in this case as not all offences are crimes (ie some traffic offences are not crimes)

So for the avoidance of doubt my point was that some comments made could be interpreted by some people to be an offence against a particularl law. If that theory were tested in a court of law and found to be proven then it would be a crime. Best to end this discussion now. After all this is a football website and today is match day and I would much prefer to focus on football. I have made my point. I accept you have a different point of view (I always accepted that) and such minute dissection of language is helpful to no one.

Today is about us winning three point and making relegation an absolute mathematical uncertainty.
