Favourite loan players to play for us

I am sure we had Tony Sealy on loan twice, I could be wrong though.

What a player he was.

 

Yes we did. Never have I wanted us to sign someone as much as I wanted Tony on a full contract. Sadly it never happened.

The young lad Clarke from Vanilla is fast becoming one of my favorites.

And one night in Rochdale if I haven't got my nights mixed up, I was def there at one if not both of them. Remember the large wooden based stand along the touchline at both grounds (Different from Vale's concrete based stands). One game, Sealy outpaced their defense from about the half way line on the right to score.

What is clear from this thread is that of all the clubs to have loaned us players without doubt we have done so well with Aston Villa. Keith Leonard, Ray Walker, Mitchell Clark plus Alan Lee who did well for us then went on to a great career. The only failure was Tobias Mikaelsson. Come on Brucie who else can we have.

Just thought of another player who was superb on loan with us and that was Neville Southall who was probably the best keeper I can remember ever playing for us. We have had some good keepers in my time watching the Vale including Ken Hancock, Stuart Sherratt and Mark Harrison but Neville stood out as being a class apart.

Neville Southall - we called him 'sociable Southall' because he didn't engage with the fans. Wasn't it about the same time when Bruce Grobbelar played for Crewe? Interesting times.

Darren Hughes was originally on loan from Brighton and actually scored for us against his parent club.

 

That is the best shout. I don't know of any player ever scoring against the club they are on loan from apart from Yozzer. You can't say he wasn't trying. Turned out to be a great player for us when he signed permanently.
