Match Thread: Port Vale v Chesterfield

I thought I was old school but some of you on here must be ancient!

My first game was the 69-70 season but it looks like some of you were veterans by then.

Unsurprisingly we have played largely the same teams since then and Chesterfield are one of them. We drew 1-1 with them the day I got married, I'd take that on Friday even though I'd much prefer - and expect - a Vale victory.

Lets hope it is a good fri last 10 games 5 before the last 5 probably didnt deserve win any of them the last 5 deserved win them all so next 5 lets win them all deserved ,maybe i dont care UTV

Looking forwards to both games the Chesterfield following passed a 1000 so i expect all of Vale come out then if the ones who are due in workas surely they have a shift swap option (our place does its amazing ).

UTV i think they should kick off at 17.00 hrs as that gives folk chance go who work 8-4

Barnett Wilson (turner or forrester ) .

Its a 2 -1 -5-2 formation with plenty of zip in the centre of the park so that we can keep there very good midfield running towards there own goal .

Worrall and Montano to play as wing backs ,i think Raglan has done ok at right back but we need to be pressing Chesterfield back and i think Worrall like Montano are going give 8 out of 10 performances tomoz as they all are .

Up front id defo go with Barnett ,Turner he very rarely scores so im tempted not go with him ,the little cameo (word up lol )v Stevenage from Wilson gets him his chance and the nod .

Id love forrester step up and do it but im not sure he is capable .

Hope he is reading and shuts me up .

Tonge comes back in pugh to protect the back 2 and Vale to win 3-0 Barnett all 3 if he believes in himself .

The tension will only be eased with a win or two when our league status is assured. As far as the team goes, carry on with how we finished at Wycombe. As far as nostalgia goes some find it interesting, and difficult to remember us in such a state, so roll on Friday with 3 points to grab.

I see little reason to change the team after the last couple of performances.

 

The difficulty for the manager is does he revert to the experience of Tonge (or even Kay) in the centre with Pugh and move Hannant back to the left. Also Forrester didn't play that well at Wycombe, so does he stick with him and Barnett or bring Pope in (it may be too soon for Pope). I thought Barnett played well in the last couple of games and deserves to keep his place.

 

Depending on who he starts and if we need something (heaven forbid) later in the game we can always bring on players like Pope or Gibbons or Harness or Whitfield to add more energy or know how in Popes case.

 

But personally I think we stay the same as the Wycombe starting 11.

He's had a couple of shockers when I've seen their goals on telly. We should be looking to put him under pressure.

I’m going 3-2 Vale.

The performances against Wycombe, Exeter and Stevenage were proof that a rub of the green is needed, and we were very unlucky not to win at least one of those.

Get into them early and often lads.
