I'd agree if I thought we looked likely to score from other forwards or via other players. We don't. Barnett and Forrester won't get close to Pope's tally between them.

I know I agree smithie honestly I just thought sling a couple of new formations at Barnet give Popey a rest you never know stranger things have worked in football

I've often wondered how opposing teams would react if from kick off the other team just threw something totally unexpected at them. For us for example Tonge up front, Pugh on the wing etc....basically every player bar the goalie playing somewhere totally random. Would be a good laugh if there was nothing at stake, and might even have a shock value.

It's a mystery why I'm not headhunted for the top football jobs.

We've given stranger ideas than that a go over the last couple of seasons.

True...and it wasn't even funny come to think of it.

Look at this roll-call of jokers up-front;

Danny N'Guessan

Theo Robinson

Martin Paterson

Rigino Cecilia

JJ Hooper

Anton Forrester

Tyrone Barnett

Exactly and for the life of me when we have a squad of 30 odd players why we can’t come up with some team selection not involving an injured pope then it’s pi@@ poor tbh not on your part because obviously you’ve grasped the concept that pope plays whatever but on aspins part

Why not start with turner/forester see how it goes what have we got to lose really? The most we’re all hoping for is a draw and if they are as bad up front as Newport it’s 0-0 at best

I wonder if there comes a point with a manager where he becomes scared to change something because of the situation we are in? Thinking back to Brown last season and even this season too, players weren't doing it and he persevered with them to their detriment and his. In no way am I questioning Toms commitment and effort this season, I'd argue hes been one of our better players, but its clear this last few weeks hes been struggling. So does he need a rest, if so who can come in? But if hes managing to get through games is he still too important to drop?

Pope is a doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised if an injured Pope up front is still more effective than the rest.

Unrelated, a friend just pointed out to me that Barnet had 4 'head injury' stops in the first half alone last week at Colchester, which apparently were also water breaks...I remember when Westley was manager at Stevenage a few years back, they pulled the fake injury trick on the half hour mark every single game. I even called it at the game against them a few minutes before he did it (think he got a warning not long after?). Looks like he might be up to it again to help keep Barnet up, maybe the EFL should be made aware?

If not the EFL then certainly the match officials. Someone's got to put them wise to his little tricks.

AJ Leitch-Smith looks more and more like Messi when you see that list.

Incredible that he was our top scorer in a team that did okay in the League above.

Isn't that what Michael Brown did?
