Match Thread; Barnet v Port Vale

At last this Winter is about to end. It started off very well but with the New Year it all changed. Will the first of the 6 pointers put a spring into our step? Snow is forecast for Spring, but will it bring optimism as well?

Is it not time to give Pope a rest from his injury, by trying something different? Turner and Whitworth for a change? Anything to spark up some energy and confuse Barnet. 3 points are essential, no excuses.

Almost a must win game. A draw wouldn’t be the end of the world if other results went our way.

According to Barnet fans they’ve been playing a lot better since Westley took over.

Barnet is Must Win, definitely NOT LOSE.

After witnessing yesterday and the previous 3 home performances I feel we are near certainties for the drop.

I am thinking back to the Sinnott days of 2007/ Glover and Gannons reigns, Ribeiro and Brown this season and even back to the days of Denis Butler - I think yesterday was the poorest Port Vale side I have ever seen.

Put a lack of confidence into inexperienced, poor quality and disinterested players and you end up in our position.

I will exclude Tom Pope, Nathan Smith from this and Ryan Boot for effort.

I fear the worst, been there before

I'd go 4 4 2:

Boot

Gibbo Smith Howkins Montano

Worral Tongue Hannant Whitfield

Turner Pope

I'd give Turner a run of games as he can't be worse than Barnett or Forrester.

I expect Aspo to play Pope up front alone though.

Not a bad shout Valiant Steve. I would never allow Barnett or Forrester to wear the Vale shirt again. What about Regis? He can't be any worse either. Failing that I'm playing!

I’ve been watching Vale for over 30 years now and I believe the next month is the most important time in my time of watching the Vale with Barnet, Grimsby and Chesterfield being the biggest games. Forget beating Tottenham, Everton and Stoke these have far bigger consequences.

I think yesterday the reality of my beloved Port Vale actually losing league status hit me hard. It hurts

Pete Vale. It's all about opinions on here none of us are right or wrong.

Am I missing something with this clamour for Regis ? He hasn't featured since November , indeed had had 20 mins at Newport and a dead rubber in the checkatrade. He is obviously a bad egg and has no interest in bettering himself.

My choice would be Worrall in centre midfield with Tonge , based on Pugh is a spent force.

Regis has clearly not impressed in the reserves or training.

I know we are desperate in midfield but am I on my own in never getting the hype about this lad ? Regis is not Ian Taylor and will probably end up non league back down south .
