"Data from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) showed more than £1,400billion-worth of investment stock flowed into the UK from abroad during 2018.*Only the US and China attracted more foreign capital and loans than this country during the 12-month period, the figures confirmed. International Trade Secretary Liam Fox MP said the total - more than the foreign investment in Germany, Spain and Poland combined - showed that doom mongers who predicted an economic downturn after the 2016 referendum vote to quit the EU had been proved wrong again."

Investment stock, i.e. speculators, £ is cheap? Compare to todays Telegraph figures for foreign direct investment, 2018 £50Bn, down a third from 2017, and now below the Netherlands. Not surprising that Fox did not quote the real money being invested in the UK.

MPs from both sides of Labour’s Brexit divide claimed victory after the meeting. Referendum-supporters seized on the fact that the statement said Labour would “back the option” of a public vote, rather than keep it “on the table”.

Wes Streeting, the MP for Ilford North, tweeted: “Glad the NEC made the right call and confirmed that a public vote will be in our manifesto.”

But MPs in leave-supporting seats, including Gloria De Piero, who represents Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, cheered the fact that a referendum would be merely “an option” for Labour, if talks with the government break down.

A Labour spokesperson said: “Labour is the only party which represents both people who supported leave and remain. We are working to bring the country together after the chaos and crisis created by the Tories

Nobody wanted the job of party leader?...... really

Brexit PM is a poisoned chalice, none of the leavers would touch it, the only one that got to the final dropped out, so the members did not get a say. So it ended up without a leader.

They must have something that rallies the troops mate or they wouldn't get voted into office of leading the party.

The Department for Transport is cancelling contracts to provide extra ferry services after Brexit.

Ending the contracts with Brittany Ferries and DFDS could cost the taxpayer tens of millions of pounds.

The government bought £89m worth of capacity from the two firms. Some of that capacity might be sold, but millions of pounds could be lost.

Jeremy Corbyn should "consider his position" following reports he wrote a foreword to a book described as anti-Semitic, the Jewish Labour Movement says.
