Brexit again...

1) what's wrong with our current trade deals? We're in the world's largest trading bloc. And being in the EU makes us more attractive for outside investment. The EU are very open to deals with the rest of the world.

2) we get a lot back.

Perhaps they see we're making a big mistake and know we're better off working together rather than sailing off on our own. They're certainly not stopping us from leaving.

You asked the question,I gave a reasonable answer ,which I thought was the way it works. The EU have taken obstinacy to a new level.

Make no mistake they want us to stay.

Totally agree Howjy. They threatened stating if the Parliament did not agree a deal by April 12th then any deal would be taken off the table. Now it seems they are willing to give further extension regardless that Parliament have not signified a constructive way forward as the EU deemed was critical to the EU allowing further extension.

It is obvious they are all working in cahoots and treating 17.4 million as complete fools

Well parliament have voted to take no deal off the table. So to me it seems the EU are being quite reasonable in giving us time to come up with a solution.

Project fear at it again here.

And it's interesting the Swiss are having a re-vote on a Tax break referendum done 3 years ago, due to false information given to voters. https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/wrong-statistics_historic-verdict-forces-swiss-re-vote-on-family-tax-breaks/44887174

I take your point, geo, but as you said a few pages back we've got ourselves into this hole and split the country in a variety of different ways, so how on earth we glue the broken bits back together I really don't know.

The 52% of course will feel bitter but there were almost as many remainers so it wasn't an overwhelming vote for an extreme option as the ERG are requesting. 70;30 maybe so but not 52:48. It surely has to be a soft compromise.

But as I say, from what I see and read and hear over the past three years it isn't as easy and as simple as we were told it would be - and that's the reason why I'm wondering if another public say wouldn't make sense. I accept people disagree with that but no one surely ever imagined it would pan out like this and we'd be asking for extension after extension. I'd say that 99% of folk felt sure after all this planning that we'd be out by now with everything resolved amicably to our benefit.

We certainly have mate, royally screwed ourselves without a doubt.

As previously mentioned the only way I can see is to leave then 're vote.... not ideal by any means..... full of problems and difficulties.... but the referendum would have been honoured which closes several arguments and precedents..... a new... not a second.... vote can then be held on whether to stay out or go back in (if the EU agrees) ..... I don't like it much but I think the first decision has to be fulfilled to create any sort of cohesion...... as before the big danger is the same result.

Parliament voted...... it may not be up to parliament..... if the EU don't grant an extension we are out.... thereby enforcing Mays deal or no deal which they have just rejected..... so Mays deal it is?

I can see an extension being granted.

And no, to your question. Remain in the European Union.
