Well, in 20 years you can start a group to push for another referendum should you wish. That’s democracy.
It could be started today if that's what people want to do... that's democracy.

I doubt it will succeed if the persuasive argument is based around people who voted out are thick, uneducated, poor, racist, monarchists, colonialists etc etc.

Any argument would need to unite not separate the voters.

Those kind of labels are the biggest recruiting tool the Leave side had.

Winston Churchill once said, "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." I'm increasingly coming to agree with him - on that if nowt else.
Someone else said that "Democracy was wasted on the electorate." The voters have certainly got some poor representatives nowadays, probably more interested in their better paid part-time jobs. Not the voters` fault though, they can only choose from what`s put in front of them, and only in a few marginal seats does it make any difference.

Perhaps we ought to start giving voters an IQ test before we allow them to vote.We would get rid of all the thickos then and allow all the clever people to vote Remain?

Jean, an Hungarian born politics mentor once said to me that democracy will always be controlled by those with the executive power to control the political agenda.

Of course not, it took a long time for everyone to get a vote, originally restricted to the few property owners, rotten boroughs, etc. The biggest problem is the elected representatives, do they put the country first or their own personal interests, obey whips like sheep, etc

Campaign spending and media power are also decisive, if I may interrupt.

I honestly believe that there is a lot of complacency in Parliament. They are not fully accountable as they are not sovereign. I hope that they will engage a bit more with the people when we are out.
