I’ve asked before re Ireland, why are the EU so against keeping things as they are? This appears to be the main weapon to stop any acceptable deal.Would they be happy with a few billion more ?Would they be happy for hostilities to start again? Will they be happy when the ROI is on its knees if we leave with no deal? Why not make the concession?Who loses if they do?

WTO border, either on land or in the Irish Sea?

One word - smuggling. No border is a green light to smuggle goods in either direction and effectively bypass border control in or out of the EU.

You could not make it up, the  biggest crisis since the war, so  shut up the shop. If they were serious the shop would be kept open during the conference season, quite simple really speech makers attend in the morning/afternoon and then  back to parliament if any votes are  taking place. September normally a dead period in the parliamentary year, business finished for that session just a matter of looking at holiday photos and a jaunt to a conference, some don't even have votes. No confidence vote in HP a waste of time as the PM can just sit on it , we are told today by the Cabinet Secretary. Seems like the elected dictatorship was true after all.

What does it say on a voting slip in a national election, does it say taxes are going to be raised or lowered. Of course not just put a cross in a box with a name on it.

There must be a prize for that statement somewhere.

What a strange analogy to make. The 2016 vote was a REFERENDUM...A general election is a vote to elect based on numerous policies.

Face the truth...the Remainers were never going to accept the decision of the referendum..therefore we have NO democracy at all

Not at all, you think before you vote in an election on lots of items, you think  before you vote in a referendum on lots of aspects. Both are simple crosses both are complex. subjects. You can just vote red or blue, or in or out, both are simple votes but complex subjects.

No...the referendum has a question on the ballot paper....General election slips do not!!!

That takes some beating," whether a PM has a majority in parliament is irrelevant ", basic skill of a PM is to count whether he has the votes or not. Voting down the Queen`s speech end of story.

Only if you take my words horrendously out of context.

In context it makes perfect sense.

If it is an action that only the PM has the power to do, he has to be directed to do it.  Directed at a civil servant he could stop it.

Yes interesting point. We have had a lot of problems in this negotiation process with the political level v public servant level. So it is a complete waste of time to keep arguing with the EU Commission to change position. Michel Barnier can't move outside brief given to him by the Council of Ministers. The Maybot seemed unable to grasp this and have the political skills to negotiate directly with the key Council members. So in that sense you may be right that the letter to the Council has to come from the PM in political office.

If it's the amount of money on the bus, then according to the EU 2015 budget (confirming how much of our money is controlled via the EU) shows that the amount was accurate and possibly even could have been higher.

If you are saying it is a lie to say "lets fund our NHS instead {of the EU}" then I don't agree either. It was a campaign and suggesting better things to spend our money on than a failing political union was more than fair game. Lets not forget that none of the people responsible for that bus slogan, at the time, had the power or authority to deliver. There was no official manifesto. It was a vote to leave the EU. Subsequent GE's are where manifesto's should then decide on our domestic policies.

If you are saying it is a lie to not specify whether the amount of money was a net or gross figure then it's clutching at straws a bit. The courts dismissed that one in their judgement of the frivolous proceedings against Boris.

Many remainers are desperate to paint it as a lie but their claim doesn't stand up to basic scrutiny.

The EU 2015 budget figure does not take into account the rebate negotiated by Margaret Thatcher in the 80's nor the money the UK gets back from the EU for infrastructure projects which leaves the UK contribution around 160m per week, Johnson knows this hence the 350m figure is a lie.
