If we remain the country is split.

If we have another referendum the country will still be split.

If we have a general election the country will still be split on brexit.

None of the above options solves the problem. There is no "if we do this everything will be fine" option.

everything above is very true, and the only solution is to go back to the basic cause ie the referendum, and abide by the result...
