I notice no one has given a good footballing reason why adams is the best manager in the league. it all revolves around the myth that he has less budget than all the other managers in the league.

 

Thats because he isnt the best manager in the league, proven by the rookie Jim Bentley. Who I remember when appointed people were having a good old chuckle at. And your right, he has had a bigger budget than other clubs in the league and signed pretty awful players.

Adams has got more out of this squad than Gannon and Horse/Grew managed. A good manager has poor runs as we suffered under Rudge. Infact that bad run ended in relegation but we kept faith and Rudge got us promoted again.

Was Rudge a bad manager?

Keep faith with MA i say and let him prove he can get us back to the team we were before he left.

I see what you mean--I guess using the word "football" in connection with the dross MA's team is currently serving up could be seen as a trick! However, I'm still waiting for someone to accept the challenge and give me even two good footballing reasons why anyone would recommend MA as a good manager?

Adams gets the rest of this season and half of next to prove himself. If we are not in the playoffs by xmas next year, he gets the boot. Until then, he is the manager and gets my backing.

 

If this thread shows anything, it is that his previously bullet proof reputation in Vale fans' minds is slowly ebbing away. Quite rightly too in my opinion - we are all judged by results. But still far too early to ditch him. He's just gone from a zero to a two on the AVIM scale of management sack-ability, zero being an alex ferguson, ten being a dean glover.

No, far from it Andy. However, with the current backroom setup we've got, coupled with the countless fabricated figures, lies, deceit and whatever else they can muster amongst themselves, I struggle to see that Adams has enough to actually sustain a promotion challenge. You need 'proper' money to challenge. Crawley are a prime example, as are Shrewsbury. People say Shrewsbury aren't rolling in money. Admittedly, that's true, but they're one of the most efficiently-ran Football Clubs in England, always making a profit and becoming more profitable by the day, with a manager the fans adore and a decent side and good attendances. We could have all that if we didn't have such a secretive and vindictive set of individuals intent on destroying something which, years ago, was an absolute Godsend (watching the Vale etc..) and now it's become nothing short of a nightmare, and to the majority, simply a chore. Things look bleak at the moment, and I'm starting to lose faith rapidly. :(

According to Ray Williams adams has a bigger budget than last year. I don't think he has a lot to play with, but I think thats partly adams fault for wasting it. Teams like Morcombe and Chelts are doing better with less.

But I agree it could be far better because of off the field issues.

This really is a ridiculous question to be debating right now, it's no wonder Adams claims not to read the comments on here!

 

ANY club that has sustained success has a stable manager / management team and they're also given TIME & PATIENCE. Consider Fergie's early problems at Old Trafford. Think of Rudgie's early struggles at Vale.

 

Sometimes it's obvious you need to get rid early on, eg, Gibbering Jim Gannon, because it's never going to work but when you have someone who's proved they can do it a time or two over you need to give them a fair shot at it.

 

Name a club who change their manager every five minutes and still have consistent success - and before anyone says Chelsea consider the money they've spent in relation to the success they've had, a very poor return in my book.

 

IMHO we'll be about mid table this season but will improve significantly next season. I was hoping for better but I'm honestly not surprised at how things are panning out so far this year. Plus, don't forget, it's only November and a good run over 5-6 games would suddenly put a completly different perspective on the season.
