Certainly unique. Unfortunately another rock artist who's abused themselves into an early grave.

The Fall have been going since my teenage years and this feels weird, which is odd because their longevity was highly unusual. They played in Stoke a few times in their earlier years but in those days live music from known bands was much more accessible and we had a thriving music scene in this city.

RIP Mark.

I used to really like The mighty Fall and Mark E Smith was such an intriguing and gifted character. I'm sure we won't see his like again. Those early songs still sound ******* incredible. Not sure whether I liked the guy as a person but prefer to remember him by those amazing singles and albums. And the fact he threw a bottle at Mumford and Sons.

I love his quote on the modern age 'Trouble is these days that people wouldn't know the sun had risen unless they'd read a review of it in the Guardian'

 

Although they've been going for years and have a massive catalogue I've only got albums from the mid 80's when they were on Beggars Banquet and I don't ever think I saw them live, unless at a festival at some point or other. Certainly unique and influential.
