Best Running Songs

Recommended Posts

I've been running during my evenings for a while now and Jo, my wife, is also starting regular running.

I think I've exhausted my usual choices of music so wanted to throw it out to the good folk of OVF to give us some suggestions.

Anyone got any suggested tracks/albums/playlists etc?

Have a look at jog.fm

You can filter tracks by a BPM which fits your pace.

Whilst we're on the topic, a little mantra that kept me going...."Hills are your friends"

LCD Soundsystem are quite good to run to, although a compilation rather than a specific album might be better. Their lp/ track 45:33 was reputedly written specifically with running in mind although I don't think it's one of their better songs.

There's a band called The Go! Team who have been knocking around for about a decade now and their debut, Thunder, Lightning, Strike is ace. I've always enjoyed running whilst listening to it although it may be a bit full on for some.

Foe the Misses, Run Baby Run, Newbeats an old Norther Soul record.

You could try, Walk on by, Dionne Warwick...you don't wanna sprain an ankle.

Seriously though, although I'm not a runner I would try something uptempo.

Higher and Higher Jackie Wilson.

Valerie, Amy Winehouse (Mark Ronson edition

Feel The Love, Waiting All Night, Rudimental all brilliant up tempo, up lifting songs, have 'em all on my finger stick in the car.

Second thoughts, the tempo might be a bit too high and make you run too fast!!

Nah! Let's compare...

Membership cost:

Gym: Yes

Running: No

Fresh Air count:

Gym: None

Running: Plenty

Ability to be in complete control of all music played:

Gym: A little but not the background stuff

Running: Total control

I don't actually have any issues with roads/cars as the area of Aylesbury I live in has plenty of long, quiet roads with wide pavements.

Sorry, but I'm much happier with running outdoors thanks!
