I have a nagging feeling Whitfield will be going back to Bournemouth like the Alex Jones situation last season, I hope i'm wrong as he is a player that seems to get the rest of the team going with his energy

 

My hope with the likes of Anderson and Whitfield is that they are a million miles away from challenging their first-team (such is the gulf at the moment).

 

I guess there is the worry that a "bigger" club could still come calling for Whitfield (like Jones last season) but I would hope that both would view regular football on loan at Vale as preferential to Bournemouth/Burnley reserves.

 

I think Anderson is out of contract in the summer. He's clearly not gonna get in the Burnley side so I wonder if he would be available come the end of the season?

We are still only three defeats from the bottom of the table, so in my opinion we need a replacement in each area of the team. I think we need a left back, midfielder (as well as Regis), winger and a goal scorer. It is easy to gloss over how well Aspin has done but the truth is he has massively over achieved with the players at his disposal. Long may it continue but I dread that the current run of results come to a shuddering halt.

I agree. I also think, over and above Tuton and Regis, we won't see many new faces. But Rudgie used to surprise us before and I'm sure he will again.

Even though we're playing well that is down to aspin rather than most of the players. I'd still like to see quite a few go out; the likes of turner and reeves on loan and Wilson, forrester, adf ect moved on permantley.

 

Signing wise I'd like to see another defender bought in, a centre mid as well as Regis, a winger and a forward. Everyone knows my thoughts on our keeper situation so I'd look to bring and experienced keeper in as lainton can't be trusted to not get injured and boot isn't there for me.

 

I'd love to see us hang onto Whitfield I don't see why Bournemouth would want to recall him personally, if aspin rates harness (who's improved dramatically recently) and Anderson then I expect us to sign them now or in the summer.

Burton are getting relegated so I would expect them to look at Harness with him in mind to play in league 1 next season.

I'd argue the players have played pretty well in a system developed to suit the players we have. Form wise we are in the top 6 so we haven't got the worst group of players. Probably as important to keep the players we might lose as what we bring in. It's not going to be that easy to bring in better players as clubs aren't just going to let their best players go.

The main thing is an early decision, as with Whitfield, to avoid last day or week panics like last season.
