OVF 404 page not found

Ok folks,

 

Here is the news from OVF Towers...

 

Note: OVF's dedicated server is called "penguin" by our hosting company. Their name, not ours...

 

At approx 6pm the server went down as reported here:

 

"Maintenance - penguin

 

This server went unresponsive a short time ago, upon further investigation we discovered that a hard drive is bad. The drives are hot swappable, so we will be replacing the drive and rebuilding the RAID array. We will post updates as they become available. "

 

An hour later it was fixed.

 

So, I am not sure why people had issues before and after 6pm - perhaps they were caused by the server going unresponsive prior to the hosting company noticing.

 

I have posted a note to the server people to ensure that all is well now.

 

On behalf of OVF I'm sorry for any inconvenience, hopefully this will continue to be a rare event for us.

There was an anomaly in a thread.... I posted a reply to a post and my reply came up in front of the original... I tried again and the same happened... Im guessing the time stamp was incorrect when the original was posted but correct when the following posts were made.

Hmm, that's interesting. I'm in a similar location (Buckinghamshire) and had no problems, yet those in Stoke had problems. Perhaps it was a localised issue then?

Rob, it was a problem and it was local "ish". Many other sites were unavailable.

Are you bookmarking the main onevalefan.co.uk as bookmarking other pages may occasionally cause problems as pages do get renamed/deleted from time-to-time.

 

Yes as far as I was aware. I was using Google chrome as a browser and windows 7. I did also try via google and that didn't work.

I had the same problem for a time last night, but it eventually got sorted. I have the main page bookmarked and for it to log me in automatically.
