Only if Norman reinvests in the club. And if he doesn’t, or short changes us then a positive spin on his tenure will be put on it by those that can’t help themselves.

As I see it there are 2 outcomes if he is sold.

1) Norm trousers the money and sells up

2) Norm invests the money into the team and club

I'd say in both of those scenarios most people would be happy wouldn't they? Either Smurf gone or new players.

All depends how the fee will be paid! if its installments say over 3 yrs then we will get the same!

I hope you are right... but those are not the only two options are then.

I dread option 3, Norman invests a tiny amount in the club, thinks he is a hero and is doing enough, continues to hang around.

All the Hugill money will go straight into the arsepocket of the big blue trousers.

I’m not one of Norman’s biggest critics, to be honest, I’ve stuck up for him a lot over the last few years and thought he had pulled off a master stroke by bringing Aspin to Vale; however, the fact that Aspin was brought back on a promise of funds to recruit players in January is unsettling. To hear that Aspin genuinely wanted to keep Gunning and seemingly had him in his plans going forward is also

If I’m honest I don’t really want somebody to come in and pump millions and millions in, getting players in on stupid money then have no back up plan when things go wrong then leave us in an absolute state, again.

I’d like a local business with a decent track record to come in and just run things properly. Look at other clubs like Burton and Accrington, ran properly on a fan base less than half our size.

The thing is Dave i think a lot of what has happened with Gunning has been twisted to suit peoples agendas on here. Aspins interview after the deal with FGR had been announced Aspin said he was disappointed to lose him but they wanted to reassess the situation with a lot of players in the summer. Then radio stoke, fans and journalists started asking about the reasons Gunning left and probed money, Aspin never said this at first its only when people have pushed and probed it has been decided it was down to money. Gunning im afraid will be playing National League Football inside 2 years, his positioning is terrible, he dives in too much but for most Vale fans running around and shouting a lot is all thats requried. Its just a stick to beat the club with, we didnt lose out on him long term weve missed a left back for a few games because Pugh has been exposed, gunning is also pretty slow and id suggest the same tactics from teams used against Pugh would have worked against Gunning, at the end of the day Pugh hasnt been beaten in the air hes been done for pace and Gunning would very likely have faired no better.

Since Gunning joined FGR they have conceeded 5 goals in his 4 games and took 3 points from 12, they have hardly turned into the leagues strongest defense. Hes also been booked twice so will serve another ban shortly too and missed 2 of the 6 games played since moving through injury.

If Gunning is terrible how come we have a problem trying to replace him - tbh he seemed to do well both out of position and in his best postion at ctr half-- no probs for him leaving but when you are trying to build something it cant help when your foundations keep getting eroded this is the biggest issue - same if smith ,pope went - to build successfully you need stability and all I see is constant change --- we need our own players under contract but the market we are in is about risk taking on price (ie as cheap as possible) rather than quality

 Sense at last, someone else agrees totally with my thoughts. However this is really off topic as we now should divert our full attention to something other than flaming gone, goodbye Gunning!

The problem replacing him is down to the time of year, clubs dont want to lose even their back up left backs, not the amazing skill set of the player leaving
