What no Big Sam or Moyes . Obviously went for a bigger manager with a higher profile. Good grief talking like that I am beginning to sound like a Sjoke fan.

Big Sam or Moyes come later in the season when the Lardies are facing their second consecutive relegation - it would be good to watch

Just wondered if anyone else had seen the highly amusing poll in the Sjokinel asking Stoke supporters about their prospects for next season. It reads summat like this:

Top dogs, title there for the taking 38%

Second place, automatic promotion a dead cert 18%

Playoffs best we can hope for 27%

Midtable consolidation 13%

The unthinkable, another relegation battle 4%

So, 56% think that they're definitely on their way at the first time of asking while in total 83% think they'll finish in the top six one way or another. I know you have to be positive but that takes optimism to a new level.

My advice: talk to Leeds, Forest, Derby, Hull, Middlesborough or Sunderland fans, or even Villa, a much bigger club than Stoke who will now be spending a third season in the second tier. Only 25% of clubs manage to get back at the first time of asking, and more than a third of teams relegated from the premier have yet to get back at all.

Stoke have just been out manoeuvred by Derby who have appointed Lampard as manager. Bruce at Villa. WBA to bounce back. Swansea likely to regroup. Middlesbrough competitive. It is a big task Stoke face. Only about two thirds of teams relegated from the PL have ever returned and the most common time taken is 3 seasons. I think Stoke are not well placed for a quick return and it could be a decade or quarter century like last time before they are ready.
