Matchday Thread: Exeter City v Port Vale

As Aspin said last week it is very tough for the lads who are out of favour currently because they don't play many games and the standard of reserve matches is way below that of league two. Stobbs looked out of his depth in the one game he started and was taken off I think. But it happens with young lads. He can only do his best but playing well in front of ten men and two dogs isn't remotely like playing in league one with the men. I would not put him in but he might be worth a punt from the bench. But who then do we leave out? The squad is too big.

I think I'd give Stobbs game time in a home game. In a game like Exeter away we really need a side that is playing well, where everyone knows what they're doing. Not the game to start tinkering, I think.

Probably because Harness has done naff all all season and Stobbs has done well in the last two reserve games.

He’s been playing in an attacking four but doesn’t score or assist and looks knackered after 60 minutes. All our threat is through Whitfield, Pope and Worrall.

I think Harness provided the cross for Turner to score Vale's 3rd goal at Crawley. Harness is a busy player with energy, fast feet, has some tricks and a killer pass in him, I think he's developing nicely, getting better each game.

Harness has had 2 assists this season so far, & played really well on Tuesday.

We've finally played with an unchanged side, won whilst scoring 3 goals for the second time in a row & kept a clean sheet, yet people are asking for changes! Why mess with the consistency we're trying to build on?

Dropping players after good performances just tells them they aren't valued, & was probably one of Brown's downfalls. Why bother playing well when you know you could be dropped regardless?

What we should see as Aspin gets a settled squad is further improvement as players get even more settled into the formation and begin to understand each other... starting to see the fruits with the balls into the 6-8 yard from goal area which if delivered right usually results in the Pontiff wining it.

Harness so far as been the player opposition fans on forums have raved about but I've always felt he looks good but bar Crawley hadn't really given an end product. If he can get that we will be flying.

I feel for the likes of Stobbs and Pyke as non of this is their fault, the 7 loan farce is Brown's and at the moment can you justify removing any of the other loans from the squad as it is (assume Pyke is injured mind as wasn't even in the reserves)
