Jean,do we get some compo for switching?

Decent pricing,well done Vale.

I believe the so called consolidation payment (the cash we get from the tv deal) has a clause that says if games clash the Prem club has precedence. If it is the other way round - Vale in League and Stoke in cup, they will have to change unless the compensate us. I think we are the only club sharing a city with a Prem team so we are the only one that has to change like this. I also doubt the Police have insisted on the change - the problem is that we share stewards with Stoke and they can’t do the two games at the same time even though the actual kick off times are different.

I may, of course, be talking complete rubbish!!

I would not think so, hopefully the Prem situation is only of a temporary nature in the city.

This decision takes no account of Oxford fans or exiled Vale fans who now have to contend with Friday rush hour traffic and/or the dreaded M6 North around Birmingham.

Oxford could well have brought 1k upwards on a Sunday. Now they've got to finish work early or miss the game.

I think Oxford will still bring close to 1k to be honest. I prefer Friday night games, despite not being local.

I think the main reason both teams prefer to play on the Friday night rather than the Sunday is because it's probably too much faffing around rescheduling players' days off/rest days and moving training sessions around.

Both sides have Checkatrade games the following midweek, in fact Vale play Friday / Tuesday / Friday because the Newport game was moved as well.

I really hope someone has got to grips with how to market, advertise and promote the cheap tickets for this game.

Last year's efforts were absolutely abysmal which resulted in really poor crowds despite us being lucky enough to have home advantage in rounds 1 & 2.

This is a pretty tough draw. If we were a mid table league 1 team of a couple of seasons ago I would fancy us, but now the team will need to step up its level. For individual players they have played at that level or higher, but the team needs to be at that level on the day. Otherwise our journey to the crock of gold, Old Trafford, Wembley, Anfield etc. In round 3 will be cancelled.
