You clearly weren't there today.Pope man of the match and rightly so.Denton shying out of his tackle cost us there first goal.

Sorry to disagree B.B. but Pope lost his player for the first. He was fed today. He seems to have had a head transplant ,the new one based on a new pound coin.

STRANGE.... different but the same.

First half different.... getting better.

Second half the same.....lost.

Their number 27 was man of the match by a long way.

Thought Gibbons had a good first half and then we never gave him a touch in the second half.

Better view of things after a full week training and see how they do against Cheltenham.

Week link Tonge. Gunning needs better distribution skills.

Still happier than I was last week.

Apart from a simple tap in Pope did nothing other than whinge, moan and dive - certainly not MOTM material. You clearly didn't go because it was Pope who gifted them a free header for the equaliser. If you read my post I stated that Denton was poor in the second half.

Man of the match. What don't you get?And I stated that it was Denton's shying from the tackle that put them on the attack and subsequently cost us there first goal. Sorry if Pope wasn't defending pressure from other players mistakes properly.

Some you lot on here need give your heads a wobble. Aspin has had 2 days with one of the worst squads I have ever witnessed as a Vale fan. The man needs time to get the best out of the crap he's inherited. The first half was some of the best I've seen for a while now, second half was back to normal. I didn't expect to watch Brazil today but I know what we will see in time, is fight and passion, something that has been lacking

He's past it and nobody will convince me otherwise, especially you. People only tolerate his performances because of his local connections, else he'd be booed every week. He's been a great servant but we really need to move on if we are to get out of this mess. Defenders have had him in their back-pocket all season. Aspin will quickly recognise this.

Ahhh that's your reply cos you don't like my opinion? Do me a favour then, go into a ditch and never come back out.

He has had 2 training sessions and one game and you are on here moaning. Let him settle a little thos squad is rubbish a nd its Browns squad. I think we will finish mid table.

First half encouraging as whitfield maybe should have scored twice .

The second half well thats why we r down there defensively left side we were a shambles and both goals came from players not doing there jobs .

I dont know what really say other than that .

They tried near the end but game was lost first 20 mins of second half where for some unknown reason we lost ghe iniative which enabled them to gain the win.

Same old but was something but u have to perform both halfs .

The losing mentality strikes again .

Shame cause i really enjoyed our fans performance first half asone of the singers banging on the metal sheeting but second half well its always the same .

Agreed about the midfield. I'm surprised Tonge started the second half because he was dreadful. Both he and Pugh dwell on the ball far too much and as a result our attacks lack pace. This was very obvious in the second half when our forward play - what there was of it - was so pedestrian I could have got back into defence against it with two arthritic knees.

Aspin had a hell of a job on his hands for the next couple of months. He can instill a bit of organisation but can he instill brains and skill into some of thes lads. Can he make silk purses out of sows ears. I bloody well hope so!

Some posters have an irrational dislike of Tom Pope and make factless, evidenceless sweeping statements to try and justify their view. I saw a player today who won most of the balls in the air, most 50:50's, played some excellent passes/lay offs, ran and fought for the team, was the only real threat Vale had and scored a goal.

I'll wait to see the highlights to get a good view of their goals but if Denton did shy away from a tackle it won't be the first time 'cause it happened for Stevenage's 2nd goal last week. I like Denton as a player but inexperience can cost.

Makes me laugh, cos brown got abused and slaughtered for playing one upfront, aspins played one upfront, so what's changed? Nothing, we've had half a performance, then the second half was like brown was still there, appointing aspin as just brainwashed people into hailing and loving smurf, shambles.

That’s just thick. The bloke has had 2 training sessions! What the hell were you expecting?! You’re letting your hatred of Norman Smurthwaite cloud your opinion (I get the impression you want Aspin to flop just because of NS).

I find it embarrassing to read more comments bashing Pope. He scored our goal and led the line quite well I thought. The problem is we don't have players supporting him and reading his flicks and lay offs. He played well today.

I don't like berating players but if anyone deserved a bit of criticism today it was surely Tongue who gave away the ball too easily and lost every 50:50 challenge. Pugh was ok for me.

Had the likes of Whitfield, Kay and Worrall scored when they had chances to do so we could easily have won/drawn that game but hey let's bash Pope tonight. Ridiculous. We had half a dozen players much worse than him today.

Aspin will sort out this lot but it will take time. Rome was not built in a day. Everyone can see that we are fragile at the back, low in confidence and have no goalscorers in the team. Unfortunately it will take until January to address that problem.
