Date for New Manager

Presumably Morgan is in charge for the next match.

Let's say, just for fun, that MA comes as D of F, Morgan still caretaker.

And results improve - maybe a couple of wins, 2 draws, only a single defeat by 0-1 in the next 5 games. Most people impressed, apart from the habitual moaners...but

Would Smurf then leave it and say, well let's see for a bit longer..... IT'S CHEAP (No 1 consideration) and it is sort of working....the future can take care of itself. We all know Smurf and planning are like chalk and cheese.

Could and possibly will happen, and the owner only needs to say he has not had the right applications, then after an initial recovery, we start losing again.....by this time it is early in 2018 and real trouble.

I hope I am wrong.

GTC would be easier with Vale. Go for 01 Dec 17. Sacked by end of season, as he has gone for the cheapest option of non-experienced managers.

Hope someone will be appointed by the beginning of Oct to mid Oct and have a lot of experience of the lower clubs, getting teams promoted and can work with players who need cuddling and wrapping in cotton wool, as they break easily.

Interesting times at Vale Park as normal.

Norman does tend to go down this route of giving caretaker managers an "audition", then giving them the job regardless of results/performances so it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm done with the club if he gives it to Morgan and Kelly.

Experience is the most important thing for us right now, but not Horton, someone that has actually managed in the league in the last few years.

A new manager will only be announced once we know if we are getting a DOF. If we employ a DOF then we will het a lower league manager (Aspin hopefully), if we do not get a DOF then it will be a fully experienced manager who can run the whole show.

If he goes for the cheap option of Morgan and Kelly then we are really shafted even with a DOF as I think Morgan would not work well with a DOF

If I was Smurf I would have in-house promotion as a serious option. It is likely the most cost effective thing to do in the context of the wage bill. Appointing an outside manager carries a lot of risk which is hard to manage. The better the team performs in the interim the more likely this becomes. That is not saying I support this route, I'm just looking at it objectively.

An inhouse promotion would do more damage than any external appointment; if either of Kelly or Morgan get it, I won't be going and many feel the same. The loss of revenue from walk ups would offset the cheaper managerial wages.
