So , john jeffers, is this a personal thing ?

Because in 1996 I received a letter from a very nice lady involved with Port Vale. She described John Rudge as a gentleman, and a pleasure to work with, and he was even the best man at a family member's wedding. Later , she told me that she was very sad to see him leave the club. That is first hand information , and I'm going with that in describing a great manager if the club. The one who plotted the downfall of no less than Spurs in that great Sat. afternoon in 1988. No mean feat all , with a side nit exactly brimming with stars. Your personal opinion I respect, but I disagree about his ability to manage.

Yes, but we used upwards of 40 players, I think? The football wasn't great, because most of the players weren't. Even ainsworth was more of a talisman than a really skillful player.

Surely you can't deny Rudge was taking us down.

It was January for heavens sake. How could you be sure what was going to happen.

I agree. It's toss being a Vale fan at the moment. That's why I hope and pray that Norman puts his hand in his pocket and spends well on decent manager.

Yeh but wouldn't rudge or MA help us to find a good candidate. Rudge is our greatest manager and always will be Jeffers talks boll@c@s end of! Martino you know that much I'm sure

"That's an individual case, you cretin. And Taylor was with us for a short time. Glover, Foyle, Aspin, Bogie, Kerr, Cross, Swan, Hill, Naylor, Slaven all had proven pedigree and cost good money on the whole. They were our spine."

And was Andy Jones an "individual case" you *****? Or Ainsworth, sold for 4 times what we paid for him? Well established at Lincoln City wasn't he?Or Van der Laan, rescued from a suspension in Dutch football to give immense service to our club? It doesn't matter how long they were with us, cretin, they made money for the club and allowed us to develop. But of course, don't let the facts stand in the way of your boneheaded argument. If you seriously think that all Rudge did was plunder well established players, it just re-establishes the fact that you either are utterly ignorant of his record, or just have a bitter and twisted agenda. Look at the facts - he made millions for the Vale by taking on players and selling them for more. Do you know the history of how Lee Mills came to the club? Of course you don't, because that doesn't fit your argument. Cockwomble of the highest order.

Our success was built on established talent

Er, yeah, right, Ian Taylor was well established as a non league player when Rudgie took him on and turned him in to a Premiership player. The ignorance of facts on here is embarrassing.

Wasnt he from that famous premiership side moor green?! 🤣

Maybe they can help but so could many others. Why do we have to keep digging into our past to find help?

I can remember a lot of fans on here wanted rid of Adams before he left and now the same fans want him back.

How much was foyle sold for? Glover? Aspin?

And the money we made post Taylor was on players we paid a lot for, like guppy, McCarthy and ainsworth. Something no manager since has had the luxury of.

No because none of them could spot talent if it come up and bit them on the arse! Unlike rudgie, he made money so could spend money or is that too simple?

Whether you believe me or not I wasn't one. I think when it's this bad we are probably looking back where under other circumstances we might not , but even I think we need someone who knows how vale and it's fans and community tick to get the club back up the league(s)
