It is a risk imo, we need experience, someone to keep things calm, and guide us to stability, it would be to much pressure on askey imo.

John would be a fantastic choice what he had done at Macc is unbelievable and let's be honest there's not much difference in top end conference and league 2. He works miracles and gets the very best out of players. Great choice

I think it could be a good move. Current manager great footballing pedigree. Would actually be a realistic appointment as well. Would he get on with Normski is the question? Garlicky should be able to figure that out.

I don't think he's a bad manager at all, I think he's a great manager for a club like Macc, just need a bit more convincing that he'd be the right fit at Vale.

 

I also worry that there's a bit of a sentimental thing going on what with his dad being part of a great Vale side.

I watch vale loads and Macc also and I think he is very suited to us. He would strip every bit of the club back and smash it

I can see a case for Askey based on the facts of his career. He has a pretty good record in difficult circumstances and has shown commitment to Macclesfield long term. So if he settled in at Vale Park he could be a stable force for many years.
