I've just been thinking - did Norman really say that he didn't know he was actually buying a football club when Wildes approached him and thought it was another hotel?

 

Makes perfect sense really. A lot of casual football fans from outside Stoke might think Port Vale is a hotel or something rather than a football club. Trouble is I don't think he's really learned too much else since finding that out.

He does seem genuinely disappointed by recent events although much is his own doing, I think we've got no alternative but to hope he's good to his word and arrests this slide. I've now written off this season but I want see a clear direction going into next season otherwise there really is no hope. NS has made some massive blunders in the last two years but I really hope he gets the next Manager decision right otherwise we'll be following the likes of Tranmere, Chester, Stockport, Torquay, Wrexham and Orient into non-league oblivion.

He's said the same at one of the Q and A nights in the valiant suite.

TBH I didn't think the interview was that bad, typical Smurf in many ways. He's far from perfect but I think he's done the right thing in stepping in to dismiss Brown, who'd totally lost the plot. If he only gets one decision right during his tenure of the club it's coming up. I'm sure he genuinely wouldn't want to go down in history as being the person at the helm when the club lost its league status. As for the fans they need to realise that he ain't going anywhere this season like it or not but we do need to start supporting the new Manager whoever that may be.

Bitterness and division will lead to only one thing - failure.

Ray Williams said it was rumoured SS are no longer interested.He also stated it was rumoured that Smurf couldn't afford to pay Brown off.

He got one wrong what about the other?Do SS really want the club badly enough and what experience have they got in running a football club?Do people think they can afford to bring in the right personnel to run the club due to their own lack of experience?

 

I did enjoy Ray squirming agreeing with the caller that Brown should go but then went all quiet as Brown came towards him, Radio Stoke gold!

Im not sure Synetics were the right option anyway. Smurf is adament they hasn't got the funding and they also have never talked of reentering talks with NS about purchasing the club. If you have the money and you are situated right next to the club surely you would be in the paper saying you are still interested and waiting in the wings? Knocking on NS's door regularly to see if the situation has changed? The fact they aren't and with what smurfs says I personally assume to be somewhere half way that they had funding from a source which is no longer available.

I understand it's quite the opposite ... The reason they are not knocking on the door is when they offered a good fair price for the club Smurf told them where to go in the space of 30 seconds and wasn't prepared to enter negotiations. The meeting he said on Radio Stoke he never had!

 

No point knocking if no-ones home.
