The Stone Roses To Reform?

Memphis

Recommended Posts

I think there should be an age restriction on the buying of tickets. No one under the age of 30 should be allowed to buy them initially, so that the generation who actually remember them have a chance of getting tickets, rather than some 20 year old who has simply jumped on the band wagon.

Surely the +30 generation have already had the opportunity to see them though so the -30 should have their turn now.

Not that I'm fussed anyway and agree with you that there is a bit of a myth around them.

I'm going to get tickets, simply for that reason, the car crash effect. Brown can't sing to save his life, but I doubt it will be as bad as Reading '96. I'm going to buy as many as I can on Friday, so I'll let you know if I get some.

Top man!

I'll deffo have one if you get them, but can't be arsed ringing up or going online.

I know. I'm not sure how enjoyable it will be as a gig.

It's going to be full of scals, meat heads and those annoying twunts who shout "Stone ****in Roses!!!" in the gap during the jam at the end of I Am The Resurrection when it gets played in Filth Ave and 42s.

bang on

I was a teenager when they were at their height and never got to see them in concert - we're arranging a weekend of it already !

but when u go see bands like stone roses, oasis, happy mondays, charlatans u dont expect pavarotti, its just the feel of the music and bein in a crowd with thousands of people who have one thing in common and thats the band that you are watching. i went to see paul mccartney at hide park last year and it was amazing but then i went see pulp in july and it was my favourite gig ive been too, if anyones expecting brown to belt out some tunes then they are going be disappointed so you may as well go watch adele. The whole feel of the gig is gonna be amazing, wait till you hear the first few chords of waterfall or i wanna be adored, your hairs will stand on end

I remember The Second Coming getting a very lukewarm response when it came out at the end of 1994. It was a great year for albums (Definitely Maybe, Parklife, Dog Man Star, Dookie, Dummy, Jilted Generation) and nobody knew where they fitted into the musical landscape any more.

It also didn't help that because there were no other Roses albums in between, nobody was able to chart the development of the band's sound in the five years. NME gave The Second Coming 6/10 I think. It was definitely a slow burner.
