Hugill Big Money

When I first saw Hugill I couldn't believe my eyes. It was the first pre-season training session at the Forest Park and the players were running round the hills. The squad came past us, trotting along gently. 200 yards behind them was Jordan Hugill puffing and blowing like a good 'un. I could have run faster with two arthritic knees. Adams and Co did a great job getting him fit and turning him into a player. We deserve some credit for his development.

Quite a few scenarios on this it appears.

Vale get 2m ,Norman trousers it and sells the club.

Vale get 2m,Norman stays and puts the money towards players etc.

Vale get 2m and it stays in the club,Norman's decision to reduce DL.

Vale is sold and the new owners get the club for 1.25m(offered) and make 1m overnight. Norman loses 3m+.

Now let me think.

Or the other scenario is that Hugill doesn't get sold and we are in the same situation of being stuck with Norman.

Wasn't Hugill signed as part of the development squad idea we did for one season along with Campion, Andoh, Deen-Conteh etc.?

What really grates me is this was probably one of the best idea's we had, it was always going to take time to deliver full on results but out of the ten players signed...

Hugill - Looks to have created around £1.5-2 Million income

Andoh - Had he not got a career wrecking injury would likely have gone on to be a decent sale for us judging from the potential he had shown.

Campion broke into the team also from that group.

Yet we scraped that and went for the foreign project 18 months later which essential threw in players not ready for the English game too quick and has ultimately led us to the bottom of EFL. We could of signed a few of the players for the development squad had we kept it and filtered out the ones that didn't make it that way whilst keeping the decent base we had from 2015-16.

Yes really we should have kept Kiko,Amoros and Tavares they would have been quality assets in Div 2.Better than some of Browns kids and fringe players signed this year.Obviously didn't suit Browns hoof it tactics.

Tavares would have had trouble being a quality asset on a whelk stall, Kiko and Amoros would have been flattened and humiliated in League 2 even more than they were in league 1.

Akinfenwa versus Kiko... hmm, bit like Vinny Jones v Alan Carr

Now I know you are a wind-up merchant for sure.

Yes my abiding memory to of Hugill is seeing him running 10 yards and then blowing for air .Worryingly that was coming out of the tunnel at the start of the game. If you had said to me then he would ever be sold for £2 million I would have laughed my socks off. If you had told me he would go for £8million + I would have had you measured for the straight jacket. Personally didn't see it in him and cannot remember now how many Vale fans were protesting when he left.

Fair credit to him, outstanding the way he has transformed himself.
