We need to play better than we did in the game against Crawley, yes we won the game but we rode our luck and Crewe are a lot better side than what Crawley are. If we play at a similar level, we will do well to get a draw.

My team would be;

Hornby

Wilson

Smith

Kay

Denton

Whitfield

Tonge

Worrall

DeFreitas

Pope

Turner

Crewe aren't that special, every team needs a bit of luck particularly at the right time. Would agree with your team but swap Harness for ADF and tactically I'd like one of the central midield players to stay behind the ball at all times to protect against counter attacks. First goal will be crucial.

Agree re first goal. Think whoever scores first will win tomorrow, can't see us coming back from an early goal personally. I'd go with adf over harness, don't think he shown that much so far.

Here's a question;

On the day of the nearest thing to a local derby, would you as a player for the home team hope to

a) see and hear the fans backing you from the kick-off, singing their hearts out, forgive any mistakes you make and generally do their best to give us the best chance of bragging rights until the next game..or

b) Negate any home advantage by booing, jeering mistakes, letting the away team make all the moves and their fans make all the noise, and generally be mardarses?

There's another way of looking at this.

On the day of the nearest thing to a local derby, would you as a fan of the home team hope to:

A. See your players play with 100% effort, fight for every ball, play with passion, pride and to the best of their ability. Get you off your seat and fill your heart with excitement.

B. Stroll around the pitch, not challenge for the 50:50 balls, constantly give the ball away, show no passion or pride, concede a goal and allow their heads to drop. Completely **** you off and make you wonder if it was worth the £20.

After recent performances the players owe the fans big style, let's hope they pay their dues.

My team would be:

4-3-3: Hornby; Davis, Smith, Kay, Gunning, Worrall, Tonge, De Freitas, Turner, Pope, Whitfield

I know a lot of people don't like the one upfront thing but to be fair Mickey got hounded for playing 4-4-2 and yet now it's the saviour for some reason. Personally on our massive pitch I always feel that it leaves us so exposed in the middle of the pitch, so that's why I'd stick an extra man in there.

We need to make sure the one upfront (Pope) is not isolated, and not just getting aerial balls and being expected to do something with it. The other two up top need to play close to him and then one go wide depending on the side of the pitch the action is happening on.

Worrall and ADF as box-to-boxers, supporting the attack whilst covering the full back rather than having the wingers play that part - leave them up the pitch and let them play off the shoulder. If anything Pope should drop a little deeper to receive the ball and cut attacking passes. Tonge in behind to control play and protect the back four.

Two big centre half-come-full backs in Davis and Gunning to add height against their threats in Porter and Dagnall. Let them sit back and let the attackers attack.

Davis and Gunning at the back Davis isn't strong enough and Gunning will get sent off.Kay and Smith need to mark them tightly and Wilson needs to get stuck in and not back off.Unless you put Davis at right back instead of Wilson.Denton is better than Gunning at left back.

Pyke is better than Turner up front.

Yes Bea you are top of the list.

Why thanks. Coming from your esteemed self, I take that as high praise indeed.

When you find me criticising the players and the manager, then you can call me a faceache - until then I am a mere acolyte to those who spread the unparalleled enthusiasm, support and optimism that can be found in a few posts on here.

8-6 vale. 6-1 down then ref sends two of their players off with 15mins go we get a penog make it 6-2 pope goes off Pyke comes on scores 5 and with seconds go there defender does an overhead kick back to his goalie from the halfway line over the keeper who runs back towards goal only to trip over his lace the ball hits the bar comes down hits the goalie on the head trickles over the line. The game is talked about for years to come.

I don't know what your on, but you sound in a better place than me...if you've got any spare?

'To silence the brown haters'. Deary me.

There are just a couple, thankfully it is only a small number, who have relentlessly criticised Michael Brown from early in the year, throughout the summer and into his first few games as manager. Injuries are his fault in their jaundiced view, if players don't sign it is his fault, in fact if the kettle blows a fuse and the bogrolls run out he gets the blame from these faceaches.

So save the 'deary me' - for some reason they do it relentlessly, and even if we win tomorrow they wont stop as they have an agenda.

Is it too much to hope hat things might 'click' into place tomorrow?

No, it isn't too much to ask- provided we don't have a referee who is against us or any of our players freak out and get sent off. This group of players are good enough to beat Crewe, it may be close, but I honestly think we might just get a 3-0 or 3-1 win and get nearly all the fans back on side. Go for it Vale !
