Don't like Lemmy's music. Prefer plaque goes on a roundabout / building / place where he was born if there is to be one.Oh well, guess I should just be more tolerant.

Yes, you should. I expect he was a Marxist too, most people you don't like seem to get labelled with that.

There is to be an unveiling of a plaque tomorrow( Thursday) at vale park in memory of Lemmy.

Apparently it is to be unveiled by " a legend of the music world"

Could it be Ozzy?

The only real legend of the music world is one Eric Clapton the God as I used to spray on walls in the sixties he was a god then and still is now wll never be matched !!

"The only real legend"? If there is only one, rocker turned middle of the road durge merchant Eric Clapped-out is pretty far down the list.

What's a durge merchant cus Eric spent loads of his money on the crossroads rehab center to help people to get off addictive stuff like he did

Is this the same Eric Clapton who's riff to Layla was oiginally performed by Duane Allman. The same Duane Allman that plays more guitar solos on the aforementioned album than the man Eric Clapton himself.

Fortunately I have seen Clapton a couple of times and due credit he is very good. But far from the best.

On the Layla album , its actually quite easy to distinguish between the two guitarists. Clapton made some good albums but not for quite some time. I preferred to listen to Duane play with Dicky Betts in The Allmans (I saw Dickie son a couple of years ago with Dawes and he's called Duane.) The most recent slide player in the Allmans was the son of another member (Derek Trucks son of Butch) check out on YouTube The Tedeschi Trucks Band. Susan Tedeschi (Mrs Trucks) is a fine guitarist too.

There have been many better guitarists than Clapton both in technique(not all of which I like ) and feel. Richard Thompson, Nils Lofgren, Stephen Stills, Bert Jansch, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Jerry Garcia, Dave Gilmour, Hendrix of course, David Rawlings Nels Cline, the list is endless.

I'm told by musicians who were there at the time that whilst many emerged after Clapton who were far better in so many ways, what he did with Cream and others at that time was so innovative and fresh that it made him stand out. Now of course it's not and there are a million sound-alikes and others who have taken things beyond what he did. You have to put his genius in a context to get why people go on about it.

Trendsetters will always be seen as something special at the time and not so special years later by those that were not there at the time

I don't get the fuss over Clapton at all ..probably for those very reasons. But then I remember buying the first Van Halen album and I'd never heard anything like it..now there are squillions of guitar players who can do hammer ons, pull offs and tapping way 'better' then EVH but they didn't do it 'first'.
