Premier League 2017/18 Season

Liverpool's style of play works well against teams who play attacking expansive football, hence why they were able to get the win against Man City. However, when they come up against teams that sit back, park the bus and look to sneak the odd goal, they look lost. There is no plan B, hence why they can't beat the likes of Swansea and Man United.

Yes they are incredibly good going forward. But as good as Barcelona? No chance. Even Man City don't have the same problems with people who park the bus like Liverpool do.

Without wishing to spoil the Howjy v Tyler battle, tonight’s game clearly indicates how important Coutinho was to the reds. Liverpool had nigh on 80% posession, but what did they create ? Very little, even against the league’s worst side. Liverpool’s much vaunted front three (at least by Tyler) produced very little in the “Little Magician’s” absence. Who stood up to the plate ? Err, no one. Welcome to life post Coutinho.

So you're basing that on one game? Liverpool have lost plenty of games that on paper they should have won with Coutinho in the side. There have been games where he produced a bit of magic to open the scoring for Liverpool, but also many games in which he didn't make a difference.

Liverpool lost last night because they just didn't perform as a team, and Swansea under a new manager were extremely organised, and after managing to get an undeserved goal did what they were always going to do which was camp with every player behind the ball. Fair play to them for doing that.

Liverpool have lost one game in the last 19 they have played, and most of those games were without Coutinho. If they go on another run like that for the remainder of the season then Champions League football and a top 3 finish will almost be a certainty.

Agree to an extent, in that Liverpool obviously play their best football against sides that actually try to attack them, which is only the bigger clubs. But to say "they can't beat the likes of Swansea and United" is nonsense. They have a better record than United in recent years in regards to head to head, and Liverpool under Rodgers played a very similar style of football that they do under Klopp. They have also beaten Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Stoke to name just three clubs this season, who must surely be regarded as "the likes of Swansea...".

I actually like watching Liverpool, but without that bit of magic (and not to mention goals) that Coutinho provides they can look devoid of idea’s somewhat. And as we all know, there is always a mistake waiting to happen in their own box, £75M defender or not. Hence my £10 on Swansea to win at a whopping 10/1 ! Lovely jubbly !

Better head to head in recent years.

This decade in the Prem.

Liverpool have beaten United 3 times.

Liverpool have lost their best player so obviously it will dis advantage them and last night is a typical example when they needed a bit of class to break down a solid defence. Klop’s system of playing 3 center forwards isn’t the best formation for breaking down teams who want to defend, their best plays came from using Robertson down the wing and using the width.

But hey if TB is correct and they are the best strike force the world has ever seen then they should be scoring 4 or 5 against Swansea without breaking sweat.

I thought the much vaunted front three were garbage last night.

I forgot that footballers, even world-class players, weren't allowed off days.

Obviously you've been spoilt so much following Newcastle as much as you do!

But yes, all of them had poor games and is a big reason why Liverpool lost. In fact I wouldn't have scored any player higher than a 5 in a Liverpool shirt last night. But for the previous 18 games they were fantastic - And I'll concentrate more on that than one single game.

Since Mourinho joined United, you've played them 3 times and scored just one goal. So my point stands, you struggle to beat teams who park the bus.

You drew at home to Burnley, away at Newcastle, at home to Man United, at home to West Brom and at home to Everton. All teams who park the bus and stop you playing your natural game.

Whereas all opponents need to do to stop Vale scoring is to put two coathanger centre backs on Pope. Sorry it's off topic but it's a particular bugbear of mine.

And I quote - "Liverpool are like a Formula One car.If you put an F1 car in 4pm traffic,it will not drive very fast"

Love it.😁

Every time Liverpool lose the same numpties will bring up Coutinho. Yet nobody mentioned him last week when Liverpool were the first team to beat and somewhat outplay Man City this season!

Any side would miss Coutinho as he's a world-class player and someone that can score or create a goal from nothing. But he was never Liverpool's most important player and they actually have a very decent win percentage without him in the side. That's not just my opinion, that's a fact.
