In my opinion Lukaku isn't the same level as Aguero and Kane. He may or may not get there one day, but for me he still has some to prove, and playing and scoring goals for United under such pressure is a completely different kettle of fish than it is for Everton.

The issues with Lukaku are work rate and that he doesn't score virtually at all from outside the box. His is the lowest workrate - 8.93k per game - of the best strikers in the PL. Kane's work rate in defence and pressing to get the ball back is the best at 10.7k. Lukaku will cause United a similar problem to Ibrahimović. Can see he is a really top level striker and he can hold the ball up as a target man, but when the opposition have the ball, and particularly teams that retain possession, there is a need to press immediately and he didn't have the mobility possibly because he has to pay the price for upper body strength. Lukaku is 94kg (nearly 15 stones) and Ibrahimović 95kg. This meant United in open play were defending with 9 outfield players. So it will be with Lukaku - perhaps, and it will cost them the title. When a team has to defend deeper because it can't press as effectively, it gets the ball back further down the pitch and is also less able to capitalize on the opposition being out of formation which were factors in Man Utd drawing a lot of games last season that they should on paper have won.

As an aside, the high level of transfer fees and wages is caused, to a substantial degree, by the competition arrangements for TV coverage. The BT bid forced Sky to overpay to retain rights. We customers are paying for that. The competition arrangements are acting in favour of the clubs, players, agents and Premier League and against the interests of the fans.

Surely it's Sky subscribers who are paying for the increased bids by Sky? Obviously many are 'fans' but they are paying in their capacity as subscribers not in their capacity as fans as such. They can still be fans without subscribing.

The competition is dysfunctional in the market place - duopoly is worse than monopoly from the fans perspective.

To get the best out of Lukaku you've really got to play to his strengths, virtually build the playing strategy and team around him. will be interesting to see how his move to Man U pans out. Some testing times ahead for Maureen, my prediction is he'll be replaced by Ronald Koeman before the season ends.

That's a potentially perceptive shout.

Abraham is a good player and particularly target man. Watched him in the Euro u21 championship. Chelsea have to compete in the moment and need a top striker. He needs games in the Premier League and isn't ready yet to be their lead striker. So they sent him to Swansea to get a season under his belt. But they have given him a good wage and lengthy contract because he has real potential.

Everton are shaping up for a challenge for the Premier League title. They have signed Sandros who was the main striker for Spain U21 and Pickford in goal. They have mixed up astute signings with big signings and they are about to get Rooney. Dark horses, clever manager, watching from the Wirral they are outfoxing Liverpool on signings so far. I may go to Tranmere on Wednesday to watch Liverpool play a pre season game - Tranmere are my second team after Port Vale, and I tip them to win the National League this coming season.

Come on! Everton have made some decent signings but they'll be nowhere near challenging next season. Sandros is completely unproven at the highest level and Pickford is a promising young keeper but no more than that. They've also just lost arguably their best player. Davy Klaasen potentially looks there best signing at the moment, but we've seen plenty of players tear up the Dutch league and then come over here and struggle to get anywhere near that. Liverpool had one of there own not so long ago in Ryan Babel.

Sorry, would help if I spelt his name correctly - Sandro Ramirez. At age 22 he has played 32 times for Barcelona and 31 times for Malaga including La Liga and Copa del Rey. Counting all games in Spain including Secunda division he has 38 goals in 105 games, pretty good. There is a difference in playing conditions and rule interpretation between La Liga and the Premier Division which sometimes means players don't adapt and fit in. But one of the reasons I push forward Everton's case is because they may prioritize the Premier League and not have the distraction of the Champions League. I guess they could succumb to trying to win the Europa League, but if they can use the squad to progress in that their first team is starting to look pretty powerful.

Re Pickford, I think he is going to be England's second best keeper behind Butland at Stoke. The main issue he must improve is kicking, watching the U21 Championship.

There is a project at Everton. They have sorted the ownership issue and will be moving to a new 60,000 capacity stadium in the next few years. So he is a guy that has moved round clubs as manager, but there is a reason to stay at Everton who are not a drifting club but trying to move up. I feel Man Utd are in a difficult position. They simply can't attract the best players to be a really top team in Europe. They look like a Champions League quarter final team. The special one would need the whole squad and particularly the young players to improve if they are to be successful in a very competitive world. For me, given Koeman played over 190 games for Barcelona and was assistant coach there after retiring from playing, if he was to try to go to a 'bigger club' his preference would most likely be Barcelona who are a bigger and more successful club than Man Utd.
