Sir Roger (no longer a coffin dodger) Moore

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised the passing of Roger Moore hasn't raised a few eyebrows.

Sad but not unexpected at the grand old age of 89. I loved the Saint when I was a kid and boy did I want a Volvo P1800, Jensen built with cow horn bumpers is the coolest. I'd still love one now but they've gone to silly money to buy so I'll have to put up with never being as cool as Roger!

RIP.

I was fortunate enough to have met Sir Roger and he was a classy gentleman who did a great deal of work for charity in the last 25 years of his life.

His TV and film work apart (I grew up with the Saint), he took over from another wonderful ambassador for UNICEF, Audrey Hepburn.

He will be sadly missed.

No one could ever replace the great Sean Connery as 007 and he proved that

Sir Roger was picked to show Bond from a different angle, comparing him to SC is unfair. As for replacing Connery, Daniel Craig's far better, for a start he can act; but I digress.

He was a national treasure Sir Rog and a loss.

RIP Sir Rog! One of life's gentlemans, read his book a few years back which was a very interesting read!

Agree with Yukon comparing to Sean Connery is harsh they were both different types of Bonds as he says and excellent in their own way. I actually preferred Roger Moore myself but each to their own. He certainly had more charisma than Lazenby and Dalton in the role.

He was also very good in Wild Geese and Shout at the Devil(opposite Lee Marvin on top form) films!

Mrs AR says Roger Moore was streets ahead of Sean Connery as Bond

Loved the chemistry between him and Tony Curtis in The Persuaders. I thought he was the best Bond after Sean Connery - brought a slight comic touch to what should have been quite a dark character, plus had that class and charm about him that Daniel Craig will never have. Also liked his comments on the selfishness of hunters! Sad loss to the film world, his fans and family. RIP Sir Roger:sad:
