Accrington Stanley Chairman's opinion

Top bloke from a club many of us have a good deal of respect for, demonstrating why we have that respect.

I couldn't agree more and have been disgusted for some time at the 'pig in the trough' attitude taken by our FA which is not really concerned with the good of the English game at all levels but is a self serving greedy boys club.

How that can be changed is a real challenge and at this point in time I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. Good on the bloke for saying it how it is though.

absolutely correct the fa and the premier league treat money as if it were confetti unfortunately very little of it blows our way and the scum sucking agents cream a healthy skim off the top some of which should support the lower leagues, the self servers at the top have forgotten that the football in this country is a pyramid system which gets top heavier season after season.

The Premiership gives a pathetically small amount from what it receives from Sky and the football league. A higher proportion should be shared to the lower divisions.

Greed has taken over Football and I don't think it will ever recover, take a look at pay on the day ticket prices for a start.

Agree with you Andy.

I'm 100% behind him.

Greed has ruined football since he advent of the Premier League and Sky.

Unless you are a multi-millionaire and can spend money like water you have little chance of success.

I can still remember when the likes of Carlisle, Northampton and Wimbledon reached the top flight. Won't happen any longer. It is not a level playing field and money talks more than ever before.

Heard him on talksport yesterday' date=' he's bang on the money but the big teams couldn't care less and I doubt we would if we were in there.[/quote']

I bet teams like Wigan thought like that. Parachute payments to them must stop soon so they will join the rest of us in the have nots

I'd like to think not, I know quite a few Lardies who are glad to eat at the top table but who also share the Accy chairman's view. Mind you they're nearly all people who experienced their fall from grace and the 20+ years of exclusion from the elite and are under no illusions most Premier League clubs have no God given right to remain there, as Villa and Blackburn have demonstrated this season.

Can't agree with most of this - although I do agree with Accy's chairman!

The money in football should be great for the game but isn't being used properly! For scumbag agents to take so much out of the game is truly obscene; and pigs-in-troughs players are little better expecting massive wages without putting in any extra effort! Clubs ought to be made to be running debt-free, and supporters not having to pay eye-watering prices for STs or matchday admissions. As for little clubs - Wigan and Bournemouth both spring to mind - both been down the lower leagues not so long ago! Meanwhile Burton and Reading are both heading in the right direction!

The FA can do fa as the premier clubs with all skys money are too powerful, look what happened when utd missed playing in the FAcup, thy were welcome back the following yr, they moan about having too many games to play and need a winters break, then when they get a week free fly off to china or Dubai and play 1 or 2 games...The FA only dare flex their muscles against the lower leagues, money talks...

The old, old story. We should be grateful for the crumbs off the rich man`s table. Because we state the facts the Prem threaten to take the crumbs away.

I have made the same comments as the Accrington chairman for years and it's getting worse by the year.

It all started when the big boys like Manure & co got the rules changed so they kept all of their gate receipts. So they got 2 or 3 times as much money than other smaller clubs.

Then the Bosman came along which meant that players could clear off for nowt when their contracts expired. Great for the big clubs but a nail in the coffin for teams further down the pyramid.

Now the greedy barstewards of the Premiership take virtually all of the money that is sloshing about from Sky etc.

In a few years time if things aren't altered to a fairer more forward thinking manner then I fear how football is going to end up.

I don't see his point.

Why should other people fund a loss making business? There are a lot of clubs out there that need to get real and live within their means. It's up to him to put his business in a position where it can survive on its own, if it can't he needs to cut back.

It's a solidarity payment, not a hand out,the Premier League don;t have to do it but they feel they have a duty to do it, which is entirely up to them. The Premier Leagues response was insensitive and whoever made it should be bounced down the road, but the point stands that it is up to Football League Chairman/Owners to sort themselves out.
