Neal wanted to go to, ironically, get first team football.

 

We didn't even attempt to convince him to stay and fight for his place. We could have told him there was a chance Jak would go. We could have loaned him out till January.

 

We chose to release him because Page wanted to retain Birchall, Yates, Duffy etc

Yup, and he saw all the best players were refusing their contracts too.

 

But we did try to keep him, it was the plan according to storming Norman. He chose to leave, rather than players such as Neal who weren't offered a deal and it was an awful decision.

A decent keeper would have saved Bolton's 2nd yesterday, Mehmet and Fasan at best are back up keepers. The goals Mehmet conceded where the ball floated over his head is the stuff of U10's. Loosing Alwick at that time in the season was a huge blow.

I agree with that. Mehmet is not the answer. The money Smurthwaite got for Alnwick we should have aimed higher than him and Fasan.

Most pub side keepers would have saved their second goal. I think the first goal was worse because although Bikey was fouled by Wheater climbing on him like scaling a tree Mehmet should have come for the ball and at least got a punch on it. Watch the 'highlights', he's all over the place like Bambi on ice.

Desperate times call for desperate measures so I'd play Ryan Boot in the last two games because the experience will be good for him and we need to know if he'll be any use next season. We know for sure Lethargic Leo and Deniz the Meniz won't be.

Yep, Wheater's goal should have been chalked off cause he was all over Bikey, can freeze frame it and see both hands on Bikey, perhaps Bikey should have been stronger?

 

We need a new quality keeper next season, the goalkeeper is the most important position in a football team, easy to concede goals, hard to score 'em.
