I really dis pair at threads like these singling out players. We've got 4 or 5 players who are actually good enough, the rest are here for now.

Needing 6 points out of 6 and people are caning the goalie? For ***** sake.

I understand where you're coming from but as I said in my original post he's far from the only substandard player, however, he's cost us goals in nearly every game he's played and clearly isn't good enough and with two wins needed he has to be dropped and Boot given a chance. Mehmet won't be here next season but Boot almost certainly will and seeing as it will be a miracle if we don't go down surely the (hopefully few) players who will be here next season should play at Walsall and Fleetwood.

You also have to wonder if anyone from the Vale had actually seen Mehmet or Fasan play before signing them, they really are that poor. Or did their dads send You Tube clips to Norman?

Oooh but Mehmet and Fassan are foreign players and foreign players are exotic and must be better than English ones...Seems to be Smurf's theory for the entire season. Why play boring Ryan Boot when you can have a guy who once played in goal a bit for Turkey and in the SPL and who needs boring old Doddsy up front when you can have a foreign player who once sort of nearly played in the Erdivise?

Dodds refused same terms that he was on before.

Neal went primarily because he was one of our higher wage earners and our lord and master wanted to cut the budget and thought he could find better for less. Like Pope.

The trouble is it's going to cost a lot more in the long run when we get relegated, lose more fans, and end up, yet again, having to totally rebuild the team in the summer.

Alnwick proved a good replacement to be fair and made him a few quid but as each transfer window comes and goes we appear to be recruiting players of less calibre on smaller wages. It's been criminal to see what's happened. We had a better team when we came up from Division Two than we have now. Why? Because we've jettisoned our better players, on high wages, and replaced them with youngsters, loanees, over-the-hill older players struggling for a Club, and free transfers. It ain't rocket science what's going to happen.

And, you feathery old owl, that is because instead of having a quality squad of 20-22 topped up with loans on the going wage rate our Fuhrer decided to spend the same or possibly more on wages but spread much more thinly on assembling a squad of 40+ mainly rubbish players, some of whom are no better than North West Counties League standard. Kyle Perry and Chris Slater were better than some of this season's dross.

The only decent players who are 'cheap' are ones you develop yourself and even then they're only cheap whilst they prove themselves.

We would be out of the bottom 4 if we had kept Alnwick until the end of the season. Why we didn't arrange a loan back God only knows. None of the goalies on our books at present are any good. I said to my brother yesterday at nil nil if Bolton get one on target it would be a goal. Useless just like 98% of the team (Smith, Bikey, Foley and Streete excluded).

Incorrect, Page chose to spend the budget on different priorties. Granted, the budget was cut but Page chose to attempt to retain 10 awful players instead of offering Neal a contract (which he could have turned down).
