Agree. Whilst the ref made the odd strange decision, the big ones were right

The worst decision all night was taking the hard working Cicilia off and leaving the lazy Hooper on - and I don't think we can blame the referee for that one, can we?

Didn't go to the game so didn't see him leave the field but RS said that he was holding his thigh as he left the pitch so may have had an injury.

It wasn't a red, it wasn't a pen, even the ref thought not,Bikey gets chopped down then the ref books Bikey, the few times we got near their box Hooper and Cicilia had Rochdale players arms wrapped round them, nothing given.

That ref quite possibly cost us a point tonight.

It was a definite red card. However for the majority of the game the ref was absolutely appalling.

Bikey was pointing out that their lad was already on a yellow i think and got carded himself for his actions.

The ref was a coward, didn,t even take the ball off at half time as it finished up by the Vale fans.

He was totally inept, but i still think a draw may of been beyond us even 11 versus 11 .

It was a red. Pugh pretty much started walking off the pitch as soon as he committed the foul and hardly waited for the ref to brandish the card.

 

Pen Im not do sure about. Watched it back a few times and still can't decide.

Bizarre decision by the referee in the Newcastle v Burton game tonight. Awards Newcastle a penalty, that is converted, then he cancels it out, and awards an indirect free kick to Burton for some unknown reason!!!

But to answer the initial question, some of the refereeing at this level is laughably bad. Weak minded, cowardly, swayed by gobby players, inept, behind the pace of the game, incompetent, with limited understanding of the game. Apart from that, it's tolerably awful.

I was there. Not a soul in the ground knew what the hell was going on. Ref has since admitted he cocked up and misapplied the rules!

Oh very good, he'll be dropped into the lower leagues. Expect him to be star man in our game vs Sheffield Utd next week!

I thought it had been disallowed because there were players in the box when the ball was struck, I've noticed this before and the Ref has not bothered, just like Goalies being outside the penalty area when they clear the ball fron their hands,and also the number of foul throws seem to go unpunished.

If an attacking player encroaches and the goal is scored then the kick should be retaken. The ref dropped one big style.
