He will not pay individual players the money they want and we have ended up with too many sub standard players. This clearly comes from his strategy. It is laughable to say he had no part in the transfer window debacle which finally put the last nail in any hope we had of staying up.

I suggest the evidence is here:

Examples:

There is a rumour that Nicky Ajose turned up in the transfer window but Vale would not pay the wages he wanted. Can someone ask Garlick about this?

We all know what he did with Tom Pope.

Completely undermined Page with the same tactic.

Is the reason Brown has not been appointed permanently so he doesn't have to pay him the going rate for a Div 1 manager?

Is this the reason the invisible Garlick is secretary/Chief Exec (two jobs!)instead of appointing a highly paid experienced Chief Exec who would make money for the club.

Is this the reason Remi Streets contract has not yet been renewed?

I'm sure there are many other examples.

Smurf is not a business man,he is a property developer. There is a big difference.

Under his stewardship Port Vale will continue to fail.

He needs to get out NOW!

My thoughts exactly - Smurthwaite's approach to the playing side seems to be to constantly skim off/remove the top earners, no matter how good or important they are to the team and our prospects, and then get cheap replacements in. As for the manager, THE most important role at a football club, ever since Adams left its been the cheap option every time, and so our current situation was always likely to happen with such an approach.

My confidence that something might change during the summer and things be put right has gone as well.

In the last few days, Stoke's chairman has been invited on to bbc1 to contribute to a political debate live on television. Ours has been arguing with his own supporters on an Internet forum for nearly two days solid. Just take a step back and reflect on that.

That is because Peter Coates is a good businessman. Stoke are sound for a long time with bet365s money. Smurf just wanted a play toy.

It looks like we will be playing L2 football next year. For me, a few things HAVE to happen:

* Build a balanced squad - 2 players per position then supplement this with youth teamers and loans when required. "Quality over quantity".

* BUY some proven attackers. To get the fans back onside we need to make a statement. It doesn't have to be a fortune spent but just someone to create a bit of excitement amongst fans. A couple of players I'd like to see us in for are:

Matthew Godden (Stevenage) - 25yo striker, contract up in June 2017, 16 goals in 25 apps this season.

Billy Waters (Cheltenham) - 22yo winger, 10 goals + 3 assists this season.

* We will be a big fish in a small pond next season and we WILL have more pulling power than other clubs so why can't we poach "smaller" team's better players? Use the £350k from the January window.

* Sign some players on 2/3 year deals. We need to build a TEAM that can grow together through the next few years and build CONTINUITY. Our team at the minute just consists of players leaving in the summer/players on loan etc. When we go down, most won't be here next year anyway.

I don't think it's impossible to bounce back to L1 next season but we need a plan in place. I'm optimistic about the appointment of Garlick so hopefully he can put this into place.

It's a no from me. I have defended him in the past, but coming on here the last few days, undermining the new Chief Executive by talking about matters that Garlick is now in charge of, undermining Brown by saying he isn't his first choice and belittling fans who have a different opinion is unprofessional and not what we need. We all needed to stick together and be one at this time, and he's blown that opportunity with his divisive messages on here.

I have been banging the drum on prices for months on here. Whilst a lot of things have to go right to increase the supporter base, ticket prices are a massive barrier to entry in our area. Whilst I applaud Smurf for getting season tickets available early for next season, we had a chance to do something different, shoot for the moon and try and bring people back in. No change is not a positive move. The lack of enterprise is staggering. Norm, if you're going to sink £800k of your own money into the club each season, do something with the ticket prices and put it in the price range of everyone who wants to come, not just some of us. I'll be buying one, but not everyone is in the same position as me. Stop just thinking about the people who come every week, and start thinking about the people who don't come every week. Make that Garlick's aim, to increase crowds by a certain % a year. Only then will we start to build this club again.

I can understand the yes respondents. Smurf puts money in to the club and if brings the right people in to help him then he could turn the club around. But I think that's a long shot now. Don't scold the yes people for having a different opinion to yourselves.
