I too was at the Hereford debacle. Miles a good shout he went over like a big heffer for at least one of the goals. This was the beginning of the end for Tin Foyle.

Another choice is Nathan Lowndes, I think we may have even paid a fee for the clown!

What??? Didn't Lowndes score against Villa in the Cup??!

Cruel thread, but to me Chris Slater. I felt sorry for him, as he was clearly so far out of his depth. It wasn't his fault he wasn't good enough. That signing perhaps summed up Sinnot's time. A truly dreadful time to be a vale fan. He narrowly edged out his mate Kyle Perry.

Thoroughly agree with Chris Slater. I still carry the mental scars from watching the 4 - 1 home loss to Macc Town. I have that date September 20th 2008 forever burned into my memory as one of, if not the most disappointing home performances I've ever seen. Chris Slater’s performance at centre half was possibly one of the worst I’ve ever witnessed from a pro footballer. Doesn’t matter that he came from Chasetown, this is about playing in a Vale shirt. He was dreadful.

I remember that too! He got outpaced by a 36 year old Simon Yeo not a good season:sad:. Glover took over after that game and went on to sign MacKenzie, Guy, Gall and Adnan Ahmed all during the same season and people think the current side is the worst Vale 11 they've seen!

Holwyn was better than the ref and linesman who also starred in that game. Had the 'goal' that Naylor scored been allowed and it was a foot over the line we would have won 5-4. Holwyn would have been just another OG scorer:smile:

Memory (dodgy, admittedly) tells me we should also have had a nailed-on penalty early in the second half...before the sky fell in! If it had gone to 5-0 I think we would have just kept scoring, we were that good...for 80 minutes!

In the Chasetown social club there are 2 Vale framed shirts - Slater and Perry.Pictures on the walls of that 'wonderful' evening.I'm surprised they haven't got a Rodgers shirt hanging up.

Having flashbacks from that era. Every time I think how bad the current team is I remember that team.
