442: worst ever Vale player

For me the biggest disappointments were Martin Henderson, being that he replaced big Bob Newton who was a hero at the Vale and Peter Barnes, given his pedigree was absolutely shocking playing 3 games on loan. Having seen his career after us and if Wiki is to be believed he played for a further 18 clubs and 5 in 1989 alone.

We have a winner. Still have nightmares about

Henderson .Bang on about Bob Newton

I wouldn't nominate anyone who worked hard for us. However, anyone who thought they were bigger than the club can GTF. McGoldrick, Danny Webber and Stefan Moore spring to mind, as does the execrable Jamie Guy.

There was a player we had on loan once from either Spurs or Wimbledon, must have been around 95 or 96 and he was one of the laziest, couldn't-be-arsed players I've ever seen in the shirt. I'm sure he played for us as a sub against West Brom at their place but I could be wrong. Think he was supposed to be an attacking player, maybe winger, black lad. Anyway, HIM.

Griff and McDonald

I'd never say someone who had put in so many 100% battling performances as griff was the worst player ever. And he won countless MoM awards which means there were plenty worse.

Mackenzie maybe?

Wish I could find the posts where people were suggesting Chris Martin was wort 7 figures.

A fair few candidates for this one but my choice is Lawrie Pearson, a left back with all the footballing ability of a dead slug. Only played 3 games for us and that was 2.9 games too many.

If I remember right he was signed on a two-year contract which was promptly cancelled by mutual consent after those three games. He went on to find his level with Whitby Town...

Paul Mahorn maybe? Signed from Spurs in 1997?
