Date move for Shrewsbury Town (H)

Apologies if most already know, I don't know if anyone's like me but I only really have shortcuts to the forum (don't look at the homepage/news that often), so thought I'd just drop it in here as the present section gets a lot more views than the news/articles section.

Shrewsbury at home has been moved from 18th of March (Sat) to the Friday night @ 7:45pm, due to Stoke playing Chelsea on the Saturday. I think I've seen people mention previously that this might happen, but it's now been officially announced.

How often do the likes of crewe, Walsall Shrewsbury Oldham and many more have to change a fixture date (probably never )yet they all receive the same payment. .. that surely cannot be fair. ...payment should only be given to teams who have to rearrange. .. seems most unfair to me

Annoying but understandable

No doubt this will get a venomous personal reply in your usual style, but I beg to differ with the 'understandable'.

No Chelsea fans will go anywhere near Vale Park, and most Shrewsbury fans will travel by car or coach so the only possible flashpoint would be Stoke station which 40 or so police should be able to handle. Chelsea and Shrewsbury are hardly known rivals, after all.

If the police cannot handle this, then we should be worried how they would cope with any sort of emergency on a large scale in the area.

A slightly longer shift, a bit of organisation, a staggered kick off time (Vale 2pm on Saturday?) - planners are lazy and just sweep it away with a decision to move it to Friday.

I don't blame Vale or Stoke for this, but the police and football authorities who plan fixtures need to use wome imagination and intelligence in stopping thjis happening.

I've said this before as I've heard a few people mention it (not sure if it is the case), but apparently a fair amount of stewards work both Stoke & Vale, so could not do both games in one day (even with staggered KO times).

Tough!

Like I say, not sure if it's true, but I'm not one myself so couldn't comment on the hours they have to do (& if they could make both). When friends have had to get tickets on the day for a 3pm game, I've been down with them at midday & they're already standing outside, so if they have to be at each game for hours before & after, it may make sense that they can't do both.

There will still be 6 times as many people at the Brit and it so obviously makes sense to move out fixture it's not even worth a response. Don't let another mission pass you by though eh.

It actually suits me, the 18th is the last day of the 6 Nations.

Its not a mission - I am stating my opinion, which you have a sick fixation on following up and objecting to. Sorry, I am spoken for, so please transfer your attentions elsewhere.

It's not a question of where there will be more people. it's about whether someone can organise something relatively simple like 2 matches 5 miles apart on the same day. And if it is not worth a response, why did you post back ?

So glad you are not inconvenienced because you want to watch the rugby, even if a few hundred other people are. Look at the last 2 post before this one, and try not to be so selfish.

You never know, maybe something else might stop you watching the rugby or it could be called off, so don't tempt fate.

It is due to many ground staff working at both grounds that they don't play on the same day. On a selfish note, I prefer Friday night games. It is ridiculous that the fixture list generator does this more and more now. Should be sorted out- it should never happen for league games. Cup is a bit different obviously.

We do not play at home at the same time as Stoke, that's how it is. They are a bigger concern to the authorities so we are easier to move, deal with it. End of conversation

How the hell can the football league authorities not sort out Stokes 15 home games a season when we are playing away. We all get the premier league payments but we are affected most. Who gives a toss who Stoke are playing at the end of the day it buggers up our day, takings will be lower and I'm sick of having to sort out getting up to Vale of a Friday.
