Tbf i told you a couple of months ago Bruno lost the dressing room. So i told you so.

Howjy, I'd never wish anyone to lose their job, even a poor football manager but the appointment of Bruno and bringing in a large number of players, many from abroad was a huge risk and one that hasn't paid off. The one thing that we could hope for was that he'd learn and make changes to accommodate the players we had, play his players in their correct positions and get the best out of them. If it didn't work then make changes. Unfortunately I don't believe that he managed any of the above and it's been obvious since the wheels came loose at the beginning of September that he wasn't learning anything.

What puzzled me completely about Bruno was his unwillingness to try something different. Why not go 3.5.2 or 4.4.2 if your chosen tactics aren't working? But he never did. All we got from him was the same boring style, game after game, that clearly wasn't working.

 

It didn't make sense at all. Even yesterday he largely admitted his mistake by sticking Thomas up front behind Reg for the start of the second half and then swapping one left back for another because Knops wasn't getting forward.

 

In other games we've seen left backs on the right wing, forwards out wide, and so on. He didn't seem able to think outside the box when his 4.2.3.1 system wasn't working. Teams sussed us out months ago, pressed us high up the pitch and made us go long to one lone striker who can't hold up the ball very well.

 

Taylor isn't a good right back. He doesn't have the energy to run up and down the wing as modern full backs should do.

 

Grant and Tavares are too similar. It's daft to play both of them when we have no creativity in central midfield. Both play too deep. The gap between the striker and the midfield lads is far too wide. We should be pushing further up the pitch and not hanging back. But that's what happens when you pack your team with defensive minded, goal-shy players.

 

Hopefully, Brown will go back to basics and instil a bit more verve and fight in the players. 4.4.2 at home would be nice but I'm not sure if we have enough good forward thinking players to make it work as well as we would like.

 

In January I'll be very surprised if we don't see 4-5 new players here. Most of the current crop are not up to it.

Well after all that I predict a happier new year on the pitch now we are rid of that awful zonal marking system and it's exponent plus we will see if Brown and the multitude of players at his disposal are up to the task.UTV.

Agreed, with one up front youve got to get players up in support. You need proper full backs who can get up the pitch, midfielders who can go past the forward and get close to him, plus the striker has to be able to hold the ball up. None of that seemed to happen.

That's just not true, if the guy has a semblance of track record in English football, has contacts in the British game and doesn't sign the whole of Kidsgrove Athletic's first team in one fell swoop claiming they will be the target of every EPL club in 6 months then the majority of fans will wish him luck and give him time.
