Although if he were a true hero, he could have refused (and split the group?) I doubt if he had much say in whether to play Sun City or to a whites-only audience as decisions like that would have been made by record companies, managers and tour promoters.

Fact, not excuse.

 

Not really the time to bring that up either just as the man died, it reminded me of the couple of lovable posters on here who mocked Castro's death.

Saw Quo half-a-dozen times in the 70's, mostly at the Hanley Victoria. Always guaranteed a 2 to 2.5hour show, plus encore. Standing on the seats, dancing in the aisles - great band live, and a decent back catalogue until they went "cabaret"!! Rick could definitely have pulled out of the Sun City gig, but Quo would still have done the show and his career may have been over. We all make mistakes, or do things we regret! RIP, Rick - keep playing them Roadhouse Blues!
