AT LAST!!! THE most unskilled heavyweight champion I have seen has finally been smashed, and his gob-shyyte spouting about being one of the best of all time was rammed down his throat. Luis Ortiz

Hard to judge him Geo 'cause the win/loss records of most of the guys he's fought are not available as they are unknowns. Only way to find out if he's a prospect or suspect is to put him in with conte

Sad to hear of the passing of former middleweight world champion Alan Minter.

Minter became an household name in 1972 when winning a bronze medal at the Munich Olympics, which were made famous by American swimmer Mark Spitz’s 7 golds.

Minter went on to become World Middleweight Champion, but his reign was brief after being destroyed by “Marvellous” Marvin Hagler in only his second defence in 1980.

Maybe not the most talented British boxing champ, but a dedicated pro who made the most of his attributes.

Another sporting hero from my youth, who is sadly no longer with us.

On a similar tack, wasn’t Johnny Nelson rumoured to be coming out of retirement ?

Thankfully, nothing seems to have come of it.

Whilst on the subject of Johnny Nelson, I have to say what an excellent show he and Adam Smith have on Sky. Top drawer stuff !

Just looking through the card for tomorrow's opening day of the Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket and noticed a familiar name running in the 3.35. MILDENBERGER!

To the more longstanding fight fan, Karl will be remembered as one of very few German heavyweights to grace the ring.

A rustic fighter who held the European Heavyweight title in the 60's who allegedly hurt Ali in their World title fight.

Think I'll have a tenner on it, even if just for old times sake!

Cracker coming up in Vegas on 17th Oct when Teofimo Lopez takes on Lomachenko. All the hallmarks of a great fight, younger big puncher boxer  vs an older boxing artist. Lopez has not fought anyone of the quality of Loma but Loma needs to stay away from the big punches.

On tv here on Showtime PPV at $75, frustrating 'cause I already pay for Showtime monthly (To watch the boxing) and don't consider either of them are good enough or have done enough to be climbing on the PPV wagon just yet.

I'll keep a lookout for the josh Taylor fight.

I'd go with Joe too, just. But we've seen Calzaghe get in trouble in a couple of fights, and Froch was superb at getting people out of there when he got them hurt. I wouldn't say it was any more than 60/40 in Calzaghe's favour. Calzaghe wasn't much of a puncher at all, although his volume was outstanding. But Froch would know he can just continue to come forward and walk through anything Joe throws at him, and I believe at some point he would get to Calzaghe. Joe was tough though, and I could see him surviving a couple of hairy moments and winning on points.

Froch had a much better resume it's worth mentioning too, even if he wasn't the better fighter.

Some big Heavyweight fights coming up

Usyk - Chisora October

Whyte - Povetkin II November

Dubois- Joyce November

There's rumours about Joshua fighting Pulev in December. Will be interesting to see if Fury Wilder III happens this year or they wait till next year and give both fighters a warm up fight in the mean time

Loma got his tactics wrong on Saturday, hardly threw a punch for the first 6 rounds and gave himself a mountain to climb, he can't have any complaints about losing. Loma clearly won the 2nd half of the fight and I agreed with Andre Ward's card of 116 to 114 for Lopez. The 119-109 and 117-111 scorecards are an embarrassment, what fight were those judges watching.

Boxing needs to come up with a different method of judging a fight.

I was tempted to stay up for the Loma fight, glad I didn't now. Some did say he shouldn't take the fight after some ring dust and instead a much easier one. Fair play to lopez though,  someone with a massive career if managed right.

The Judge is being investigated now i believe after an image leaked of him on his phone during the fight. Rightfully so , not a chance Ritson won that fight

Agree with the judges. To many big fights have been ruined because of this , Canelo GGG II springs to mind. Maybe an official or a ref outside the ring to over rule the judges in certain decisions?
